Marussia team principal John Booth says his outfit is 'very close' to completing a deal which would see Max Chilton race with the squad for a second season.
Chilton joined Marussia as their reserve driver in 2012 and stepped up to a race seat in 2013.
The Brit finished all 19 races in his first year in the sport.
"We are very close with Max, very close. He wants to stay and we want him to stay so it's a matter of sorting the details out really," Booth told Sky Sports F1.
"We like the lad and he's done a great job, particularly in the second half of the year. I think he's very comfortable here and very happy here."
Chilton finished in 23rd place in the championship with a best finish of 14th place in Monaco.
Marussia has already confirmed that Ferrari youngster, Jules Bianchi, will remain with the team into 2014.
