Manor has confirmed that it will compete in next weekend's Australian Grand Prix, ensuring that 10 teams will start the new campaign. Manor revealed that Stephen Fitzpatrick is the team's new investor and that former Sainsbury's CEO Justin King - father of GP2 racer Jordan - will act as interim team chairman. Graeme Lowdon and John Booth will continue as president & sporting director and team principal respectively. An interim car - which still needs to pass final crash tests - will be used to […]

Manor Marussia on FIA entry list

Manor Marussia has been included on the updated FIA entry list, which was published by the sport's governing body on Friday afternoon. The squad exited administration earlier this month through a Company Voluntary Agreement and emphasised earlier this week that it intended to compete in the Australian Grand Prix. The team has been officially listed as 'Manor Marussia F1 Team', with the FIA highlighting that full compliance with the 2015 technical regulations is required. Will Stevens' participation in the upcoming campaign is also subject to […]

Manor still plans to race in 2015

Manor, which raced as Marussia until 2014, still intends to enter the upcoming campaign, the team announced on Friday evening. Marussia has been in administration since October and missed the last three races of 2014 but FRP Advisory announced this week that the team would exit administration on February 19. It was understood that on Thursday the Strategy Group denied the team's request to enter this season with a 2014 car but the outfit confirmed that it received the go ahead to modify its 2014 […]

Strategy Group blocks Marussia's 2014 car request

Marussia's chances of returning to Formula 1 have been dealt a blow after Formula 1's Strategy Group rejected the team's request to use its 2014 car this year. Marussia entered administration last October but had been provisionally informed that its 2014 machine would be permitted this year, if it could secure a return to the grid. But the squad's request did not receive unanimous approval during a meeting of Formula 1's Strategy Group on Thursday. On account of placing ninth in last year's Constructors' Championship, […]

Marussia set to exit administration

The beleaguered Marussia outfit is set to exit administration with a view to returning to Formula 1 this season. Marussia entered administration in October last year and missed the final three races of the 2014 campaign. Administrators undertook an auction of some of the team's assets but a second auction - at which the squad's 2014 cars were set to be sold - was called off at the last minute as talks continued to save the team. Marussia still holds an entry for the upcoming […]

Marussia in last-ditch talks to save team

Marussia is holding late talks in order to remain on the Formula 1 grid this season, after administrators called off a planned auction of the squad's remaining assets. Marussia entered administration last October and was absent from the final three races of 2014, with a subsequent auction resulting in many assets being sold. A second auction was set to take place on Wednesday, but administrators FRP Advisory have now called off the event as senior management attempts to save the team. "A planned auction of […]

Marussia misses out on Abu Dhabi return

Marussia will not compete at this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after talks with potential investors failed to produce the hoped result. Marussia entered administration at the end of October and missed both the United States and Brazilian Grands Prix, with the squad having ceased trading two weeks ago with the loss of 200 jobs. But negotiations continued regarding the future of the team but the deadline to make it to the Yas Marina Circuit has passed, despite some Ferrari Power Unit employees working in […]

Marussia ceases trading, administrators confirm

Administrators acting on behalf of Marussia have confirmed that the Formula 1 team has ceased trading and employees made redundant. Marussia entered administration in October and was absent from the United States Grand Prix but it was hoped that the squad would re-appear in 2015 after holding company Manor lodged an entry for next year. But FRP Advisory confirmed on Friday morning that the team, Manor Grand Prix Limited, had closed. "It goes without saying that it's deeply regrettable that a business with such a […]

FIA urges Formula 1 to cut costs

The FIA says that the absence of Marussia and Caterham from this weekend's United States Grand Prix shows that it was right to push for cost cutting measures earlier this year. FIA President Jean Todt proposed a cost cap which would reduce spending, but his concept was abandoned when he realised that he would not have the required backing from Formula 1 teams. Only 18 cars will participate at Austin this weekend and an FIA statement says that they foresaw the situation. "The FIA has […]

Mosley warns F1 could lose more teams

Former FIA President Max Mosley has warned that Formula 1 could lose more teams due to the current costs of competing in the sport. Marussia and Caterham will miss this weekend's United States Grand Prix after calling in the administrators, meaning that only nine teams will enter a race for the first time since 2005, when BAR-Honda was banned. But Mosley warned that other teams could fall foul of financial problems due to the governance of the sport. "It's not a fair competition anymore," Mosley […]

Administrators confirm Marussia will miss Austin

Administrators acting on behalf of the Marussia Formula 1 team have confirmed that the squad will not compete in this weekend's United States Grand Prix. FRP Advisory was appointed to oversee Marussia's trading company, Manor Grand Prix, on Monday and the outfit will miss the race in Austin. It is the second Formula 1 team to enter administration in the space of four days after fellow backmarkers Caterham handed over control of their team on Friday. "With the existing shareholder unable to provide the required […]

Marussia joins Caterham in missing Austin

Marussia is set to join Caterham in missing next weekend's United States Grand Prix, Formula 1 head Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed. Caterham was originally set to be absent from the event after administrators stepped in and took control of the beleaguered outfit. But with Marussia also struggling financially, Ecclestone says that neither squad will make the trip to Austin, with freight scheduled to be taken to the race on Saturday. "Neither of those two teams are going to go to America," he told Reuters. The […]
