Vettel wins the Australian GP

Sebastian Vettel won the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, from Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. Vettel’s margin of victory was 9.975 seconds over Hamilton, while only the top 6 drivers finished the race in the same lap. This was Vettel’s and Scuderia Ferrari’s first victory since the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix. Hamilton takes the first pole of the season

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton will be starting the first race of the 2017 season from pole position. His fast lap of 1:22.188 set a new track qualifying record and was .268 of a second better than runner-up Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari. Vettel tops final practice session

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel set the quickest time in the third practice session on Saturday, whose fast lap of 1:23.380 was .479 of a second better than his nearest pursuer, Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas. Vettel broke the all-time lap record at the Albert Park Circuit in the process, bettering it by .149 of a second. British GP future thrown into doubt

BRDC chairman John Grant has confirmed in letter to members that the Silverstone circuit will considering terminating its F1 contract from 2020. The news comes as a shock to Motorsport fans around Britain. The 2016 British GP attracted a record attendance over the four day weekend, with 122,000 spectators on Race day. Hungaroring upgrades confirmed for Moto GP arrival

Hungary is hoping that updates to its Budapest based circuit can secure the Moto GP series for the first time. The Hungaroring is currently undergoing a three year update programme, which began in March last year. The first stage was resurfacing the full 2.72 miles of circuit, the first time this has been done since the circuit’s construction in 1985.
