The best man won, says beaten Vettel

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel congratulated Mercedes rival Lewis Hamilton on joining him as a four times Formula One world champion on Sunday and vowed that next season would be different. “I‘m down, obviously,” said the German, who won his titles with Red Bull, after his already extremely slim hopes were finally extinguished at the Mexican Grand Prix. “It’s tough to cross the line and realise that you’re not in the fight anymore. That sums it up ... It’s Lewis’s day. He was crowned world champion and […]

Vettel:

Sebastian Vettel was robbed of any chance to fight for a victory in Japan when a spark plug on one cylinder failed. The German driver started the race on the right side alongside Lewis Hamilton and got off the line well, but not well enough to take the lead. His car was already showing a problem with the ignition as he lost one place on the opening lap. As Vettel dropped on sixth and continued to loose ground, he was called back into the pits […]

Vettel victorious at Hungaroring

Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel expands his championship lead after winning the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday over team mate Kimi Raikkonen. The four-time Formula One champion won the race from the pole, leading all 70 laps to secure his 46th career Formula One victory, his fourth of the season and his second at the Hungaroring. The triumph also gave Vettel some breathing room in the championship. Vettel came into Hungary with only a one-point lead over his nearest pursuer, Lewis Hamilton, but leaves with a 14-point […]

Did Ferrari favoured Vettel over Raikkonen?

Looking back over the last few years’ Monaco Grands Prix, a pattern emerges, where a strategy call has decided the outcome and some controversial decisions have been at the heart of it. Last year was Red Bull’s misstep on Ricciardo’s strategy and then an error in the pit stop itself, in 2015 Lewis Hamilton lost the race on a bad strategy call, in 2014 he was angry because Mercedes stopped both cars on the same lap behind the Safety Car, giving him no chance to […]

Hamilton's victory, an open goal from Ferrari

This was one of the best races from a race strategy point of view for years. Like last year’s Spanish Grand Prix, strategy decided the outcome, but the two main protagonists, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel also surpassed themselves, with heroic drives, making it a truly memorable race. Here we will analyse the momentous decisions that dictated the outcome, at how the pendulum swung from one driver to another several times. And we will also look at how the lowly Sauber team managed to score its […]

Ferrari ensured double podium

After a front row lock-out in qualifying, Ferrari drivers managed to get both cars on the podium finishing second and third respectively in a Russian Grand Prix that was settled in two moments; the start and the final lap. Thanks to this result Sebastian Vettel extends his lead in the Drivers’ classification over Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, who finished fourth, to 13 points. In total, Scuderia Ferrari walks off with 33 points as Kimi Raikkonen also made it to the podium for the first time this season.  “I […]

Ferrari scores front row lock-out

Sebastian Vettel will start the Russian Grand Prix from pole position after scoring the fastest time during the qualifying session. His fast lap of 1:33.194 set a new track qualifying record and was .059 of a second better than runner-up and teammate Kimi Räikkönen. Nico Rosberg held the previous track qualifying record of 1:35.337 set last year in Q2, and Vettel’s pole-winning time beat it by 2.143 seconds. This is Vettel’s 47th career Formula One pole but his first since the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix. […]

Marchionne:

Ferrari President Sergio Marchionne is proud of Scuderia's performance this weekend after Sebastian Vettel produced a flawless drive to win the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, starting from third on the grid and beating both Mercedes drivers. It is Vettel's fifth victory in Prancing Horse colours, one that was also down to the strategic calls from the Ferrari pit wall.  Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth, despite encountering a few difficulties, and fought back to finish just off the podium.  "It is, of course, hugely satisfying to be back on […]

Vettel tops opening practice sessions

The third round of the 2017 FIA Formula One World Championship began with two practice sessions at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, as teams prepared for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday. Two 90-minute sessions – FP1 and FP2 – on the 5.412-kilometer track took place amid extremely hot conditions, a marked contrast following the cold, rain-soaked Chinese Grand Prix last weekend in Shanghai.  Leading the way in FP1 was Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, whose fastest lap of 1:32.697 was .400 of a second […]

Vettel:

Scuderia Ferrari leaves the Chinese Grand Prix with a further 28 points to its name, thanks to a second place for Sebastian Vettel and a fifth for Kimi Raikkonen. The race got underway on a damp track, with Vettel making an early stop to change from Intermediate to Soft tyres, but immediately after that the Safety Car came out because of Giovinazzi’s accident and wiped out the advantage of that tactical move, as all the drivers had to come through pit lane. Vettel then put on […]
