Pastor MaldonadoPastor Maldonado has rejected rumours that he will change teams for 2014.

Maldonado has driven for Williams since his Formula 1 debut in 2011 and insist he is happy with his current team.

“I had a phone call from my friend of many years and he was calling me on the beach saying ‘Oh I read you are going to Ferrari, you are going to Lotus, you are going to many teams’” he said.

“I am fully focused on this season and there is no point saying I am going somewhere else. I am in a good place; for sure the results are not there but we work together and I hope to stay and be here next year.”

"To win the championship with Williams before going to another team is my mission."

“The team is happy with me; we won a race in my second year, even when the car was not a winning car. I am doing well; we just need to put everything together to be more consistent as team.”

Maldonado also labelled Spa Francorchamps – scene of his maiden point in 2011 – as ‘special’.

“I love it, it’s a special track”, he said. “All the drivers are waiting for this race, it’s a Formula 1 track and you have fast corners, long corners, good braking points so you have everything you need to enjoy here.”

Pat Symonds joined Williams this week and Maldonado believes his arrival will boost the team.

“I think so far Pat is a very decent guy, I’ve been talking to him this week. He looks very professional, already with the team, we are a team hoping to do our best and he is a very open guy. We were talking for an hour, we changed opinions and we are looking forward to improve everything together.”

“Everyone who can help us is welcome. I don’t prefer anyone, I prefer a winning guy. If the car is a winning car, I drive it and if the people are winning people, I love them!”
