Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has been penalised after he was judged to have caused a collision with team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Rosberg led Hamilton during the closing stages but the pair collided at Turn 2 while battling for victory, with the contact causing damage to Rosberg's front wing.

Rosberg ultimately finished fourth after crusing around the final lap but was immediately placed under investigation for causing the collision, as well as continuing with a damaged car.

After a wait of over three hours, stewards slapped Rosberg with a 10-second time penalty, though the sanction makes no difference to his overall result and he keeps fourth place.

For continuing with a damaged car, Rosberg was handed a reprimand, his first of the season.

Rosberg thus leads Hamilton in the standings by 11 points.
