Kimi Raikkonen was left perplexed after his front wing suddenly detached itself from his Ferrari SF15-T during practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

As Raikkonen exited Turn 12 during the first session, his front wing fell off and the Finn was unable to avoid running over it, sending debris over the circuit.

Raikkonen was able to recover in the second session to place fifth.

"The feeling with the car was not too bad and the tyres were behaving pretty okay, but the lap times are still not right," he said.

"I don’t know exactly what happened with my front wing, it just broke suddenly and came off damaging the tyre. The team is looking into it and hopefully they will find out the reason."

Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel endured a difficult day as he encountered mechanical issues and spun twice on his way to the seventh best time.

"There were two or three things that slowed us down and cost us some time," he said.

"We were stuck in the garage this morning with a shortage in the electric system, and this afternoon Kimi had a problem with the front wing, so we both couldn’t run as much as we wanted."
