Former Formula 1 driver Justin Wilson has succumbed to the injuries which he sustained during a crash at last weekend's IndyCar race at Pocono. He was 37.
Andretti driver Wilson struck debris from Sage Karam's crashed car and sustained a severe head injury, falling into a coma from which he did not awake.
Wilson raced for Minardi and Jaguar during his sole season in Formula 1 in 2003, scoring a point at the United States Grand Prix.
Unable to secure a Formula 1 seat for 2004, Wilson turned his attention Stateside and raced in Champ Car and in IndyCar, following the reunification in 2008.
Despite rarely racing for a leading team, Wilson racked up several wins and was one of the most well-respected and admired drivers in the paddock.
F1Zone.net extends its condolences to the family and friends of Wilson.
