Rio Haryanto believes conversations between his management and Manor are "going really well," but admits he cannot be assured of his future beyond the summer break.
Haryanto made his Formula 1 debut at the start of the 2016 season courtesy of financial backing from Indonesia's government and state-owned oil company Pertamina.
However, Haryanto's seat is not guaranteed until the end of the campaign and he is unsure whether he will be able to complete the full season alongside Mercedes youngster Pascal Wehrlein.
"I still don’t know yet, but I’ve been told it’s going really well," Haryanto said when asked for an update ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.
"For the time now I just have to keep doing my best, trying to deliver the best result I can.
"Then we’ll see what happens next.
"Perhaps you can ask the big boss of Manor!"
