Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso says that Nico Hulkenberg's performance during the Korean Grand Prix was "superb".

Alonso spent the first stint of the race behind Hulkenberg but was unable to pass the Sauber driver.

Lewis Hamilton was subsequently passed by Hulkenberg and the German kept the Mercedes driver at bay for the remainder of the race, finishing in fourth place.

"What Nico is doing is superb," Alonso said.

"He is driving very, very well and he deserved to be in front of us because he did a fantastic race."

Hulkenberg, who labelled his drive as "one of my best ever," is still without a 2014 seat.

He insists that one race won't change the minds of team principals.

"This is something that I am not thinking about here and now," he said regarding his future. "I am happy about how it went for me and the team - I am simply enjoying the moment. I also don't think that a single race will change the staffing policy of any team."

"This weekend our concept simply worked out: having good speed with good traction. It sounds simple, but believe me, it isn't! I want to give my compliments to the team for their effort this weekend."
