Red Bull has presented its proposal for increased head protection in Formula 1, as the sport moves closer to the halo concept for 2017.
Increased head protection has been a focal point for safety enhancements and the halo concept, originally proposed by Mercedes, is the favoured option.
The device was tested during pre-season by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen, who both completed a lap with the halo mounted on the SF16-H.
Red Bull has now presented its proposal of a transparent canopy, though the halo remains the FIA’s preference for 2017.
