Lotus reserve driver Jolyon Palmer remains optimistic that he will be able to race for the squad in 2016, alongside the already confirmed Pastor Maldonado.
Palmer has participated in several practice sessions for Lotus this year and with Romain Grosjean's future uncertain, amid speculation that he will be moving to the new Haas team, Palmer is confident that he can propel himself into contention for a 2016 drive.
"I’m still hoping to be racing here next year so my aim is to show the team what I can do," Palmer told BBC Sport.
"I’m getting more opportunities coming up and also from a team point of view we’re still in the fight for fifth with Force India and Toro Rosso, that’s an aim even though it’s a tough one at the moment."
"I think the Haas announcement might make things clearer but we’ll see; I think things have got to happen really in the next week or two, it’s quite an important time or crunch time for the team, we’ll see in the next week what’s happening and I’ll know personally what’s going to be happening in the future."
