Ferrari has provisionally agreed to supply Manor with engines, if the squad is able to compete in the upcoming campaign.
Manor, which operated as Marussia between 2012 and 2014, entered administration in October and missed the final three races of the season.
But on Thursday it was agreed that the company would exit administration through a Company Voluntary Agreement as it bids to return to the Formula 1 grid.
During a press conference at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene confirmed that a verbal agreement had been reached, but that no contract had yet been signed.
Ferrari, one of Manor's largest creditors, started supplying the team with engines in 2014.
