Vettel laments rear instability

Sebastian Vettel was left to lament rear end instability with his Red Bull RB10 as he exited qualifying for the Russian Grand Prix in the second knockout session. Vettel was only 11th quickest in qualifying - but will start from 10th as a result of Kevin Magnussen's grid penalty. "I wasn’t comfortable in the car today," he said. "It was very difficult, I think we took a step back from this morning and we expected the rear to be a lot stronger and the track […]

Red Bull wary of faster rivals

Red Bull duo Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo believe that the reigning world champions could face a tough time at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. Vettel was third quickest during the second practice session at the Hungaroring but is wary of Red Bull's rivals being able to make greater gains ahead of Saturday's qualifying session. Vettel was significantly faster than Williams driver Valtteri Bottas, who has claimed three consecutive podium finishes, and the German is sure that their rivals can make steps. "I think we […]

Red Bull praises 'mature' Vettel

Sebastian Vettel has dealt with his 2014 setbacks in a 'remarkably mature' fashion, according to Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. The reigning world champion has retired from three of the eight races in 2014 and currently sits in fifth place in the championship, 105 points behind title leader Nico Rosberg. "Sebastian’s been remarkably mature about it to be honest with you," he said of Vettel's response to his 2014 issues. "Not shallow in any way or spitting his dummy or throwing the toys out. […]

Horner: Renault six months behind Mercedes

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner believes that engine supplier Renault is roughly six months behind the development curve compared to rivals Mercedes - and insists the outfit has options for 2016. Rumours have circulated in the paddock across the last few weeks that the reigning champions are considering ditching Renault once the current contract ends in 2015 - a rumour which Horner did not deny on Tuesday. "The thing about a team like Red Bull is we always have options, and I'm not going […]

Ricciardo confident of Silverstone improvement

Daniel Ricciardo says he is confident Red Bull will return to form at next weekend's British Grand Prix after enduring a disappointing round in Austria. Ricciardo finished in eighth place while team-mate Sebastian Vettel retired after suffering from power unit problems early in the race. "Basically, the percentage of corners to straights," Ricciardo said when asked about Red Bull's lack of pace in Austria. "This year, as everyone knows, we're losing time on the straights but recovering it in the corners and there are not […]

Vettel relieved to avoid huge accident

Sebastian Vettel expressed his relief that he was able to avoid a last lap accident involving Sergio Perez and Felipe Massa. Both drivers suffered heavy impacts into the barriers, with Massa narrowly missing the RB10 of Vettel. Vettel went on to finish in third place to claim his second podium of the season. "From lap 20 onwards […]

Vettel hindered by electrical issues

Sebastian Vettel says that an ERS problem hindered his progress during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. The reigning world champion set the fourth quickest time in Q3 but reckons his Red Bull RB10 was not at its optimum potential throughout the session. "I had some problems in qualifying today," he said. "Somewhere in Q1 we lost ERS, so basically the electric power to discharge the car and we didn’t get it back. "In the end we ran a different mode which was fine, but […]

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel says that the 'immense' Monaco Grand Prix provides a huge challenge for Formula 1 drivers. The sport returns to one of its most famous circuits next weekend and Vettel says that it is one track where drivers cannot make a single error. Vettel crashed out of the race in 2009 but has since enjoyed a strong record at the track as he finished as the runner-up in 2010 and 2013, and won the event in 2011. "Monaco is one of […]

Ricciardo originally took his first top three finish in Australia but was disqualified due to a technical irregularity. Ricciardo finished the race in third place in Spain, 46 seconds behind winner Lewis Hamilton. "It wasn't exactly the start I wanted, I think initially the launch felt okay but then we lost a bit of traction after that and [Valtteri] Bottas got past me," he said of […]
