Vettel reliant on Ricciardo's data

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel says he will be reliant on data from Daniel Ricciardo's car after the German driver missed the majority of running in Spain. Vettel's RB10 crawled to a halt after a handful of laps in the first practice session and Red Bull was unable to repair his RB10 in time for the second session. "We had a simple failure in one of the looms this morning, which caused a short and meant the car stopped," he said. "We had to change […]

Wiring loom forces Vettel out of second practice

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel will miss this afternoon's second free practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix. Vettel, who won the event in 2011, completed only four laps in the morning session before his RB10 developed an electrical problem. 'Due to an electrical problem that has damaged the wiring loom of Car No. 1, Sebastian will not be able to take part in FP2', Red Bull said. Vettel has reverted back to a chassis last used in testing as he bids to overcome his […]

Vettel to use old chassis in Spain

Sebastian Vettel will be given a different chassis this weekend as he bids to close the gap on championship leader Nico Rosberg. Vettel has played second fiddle to Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo across the past couple of Formula 1 races and will revert back to a chassis he used in testing in order to fix his issues. "I think we concluded after China, where we were quite a little bit behind to change the chassis, so actually it’s not a new chassis, it’s an […]

Ricciardo pleased to duel Vettel

Daniel Ricciardo says that he and Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel have agreed to race each other 'hard' in 2014. Ricciardo joined Red Bull at the start of the year and has beaten Vettel across the last two races in Bahrain and China. The Australian driver believes that competition between them must be hard if they are to respect each other at the end of the championship. "We know it ourselves and even told each other that we want to race hard," Ricciardo told the […]

Red Bull: We can take fight to Mercedes

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has asserted that the reigning world champions can take the fight to Mercedes in the 2014 championship. Mercedes has claimed four successive pole positions and wins in 2014 and leads Red Bull by 97 points in the constructors' championship. But Horner remains confident that Red Bull can catch Mercedes once they resolves their issues with the RB10. Vettel aiming for a top five finish

A realistic Sebastian Vettel has admitted that a top five finish for Red Bull would be a good result at this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix. Red Bull loses appeal against Ricciardo exclusion from Australian GP

The FIA International Court of Appeal has upheld the stewards decision to exclude Daniel Ricciardo from the Australian Grand Prix. Ricciardo finished the season opening race in second place but was disqualified after stewards discovered that his RB10 had exceeded the fuel flow rate limit of 100kg/hr. Red Bull appealed the decision having claimed that they used their own measuring equipment due to the unreliability of the FIA's sensors. The appeal was heard in Paris on Monday and the International Court of Appeal announced on […]

Ricciardo delighted after 'awesome' race

"It was an awesome race; it was exciting," he said. "I think the first stint was a bit follow-the-leader, but from the second stint onwards, the race really started to turn up the heat and there were more battles going on in […]

Vettel: We weren't quick enough today

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has admitted that he simply wasn't quick enough after being knocked out of Q2 during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Vettel endured a difficult day in Bahrain as he spun off during the final practice session and reckons that his error put him on the back foot for the remainder of the running. The German, who won in Bahrain in 2012 and 2013, will start the race from 10th place. "We weren’t quick enough today," he said. "I was […]

Vettel: It's a matter of time before we catch up

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel says it is a matter of when, not if, Red Bull will catch up with early leaders Mercedes. Vettel finished the Malaysian Grand Prix in third place to record his first points of the season and he believes his Red Bull team will catch the outfit which has won both races in 2014. "The package they [Mercedes] have is very, very strong, we know that but I think for us there’s mostly positives that remain," he said. "After Australia, Daniel […]

Ricciardo handed 10 place grid drop for Bahrain

Daniel Ricciardo has been given a 10 place grid penalty for next weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix. Ricciardo was penalised with the grid drop alongside a stop and go penalty after Red Bull released him unsafely from his third stop at the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Australian retired from the race during the closing laps. "It was looking like a solid points finish, the start was really good and I made positions," he told BBC Sport. "I was starting to mix it up at the front […]
