Daniel Ricciardo expressed his happiness after claiming his first podium finish in Formula 1 at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Ricciardo originally took his first top three finish in Australia but was disqualified due to a technical irregularity.
Ricciardo finished the race in third place in Spain, 46 seconds behind winner Lewis Hamilton.
"It wasn't exactly the start I wanted, I think initially the launch felt okay but then we lost a bit of traction after that and [Valtteri] Bottas got past me," he said of the start to his race.
"The first stint I tried to hang in there, got underneath him but wasn’t deep enough to pull the move off. It was just about making the two stop work, [a] pretty lonely race. A lonely third is not a bad result for the weekend."
Ricciardo added that the race pace of team-mate Sebastian Vettel was also encouraging for the team.
Vettel finished in fourth place, despite starting the race from 15th on the grid.
"It’s a positive for the team, third and fourth, so obviously Mercedes are the top dogs but we seem to be sitting nicely in the next spot and somehow [we'll] creep our way closer."
