Marussia misses out on Abu Dhabi return

Marussia-F1-TeamMarussia will not compete at this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after talks with potential investors failed to produce the hoped result.

Marussia entered administration at the end of October and missed both the United States and Brazilian Grands Prix, with the squad having ceased trading two weeks ago with the loss of 200 jobs.

But negotiations continued regarding the future of the team but the deadline to make it to the Yas Marina Circuit has passed, despite some Ferrari Power Unit employees working in association with Marussia donning the team's shirts in the paddock on Wednesday.

"Devastated for everyone involved at Marussia in the past 24 hours that the hard work trying to get to Abu Dhabi didn't work out as we hoped," driver Max Chilton posted on Twitter.

Marussia remains in ninth place in the Constructors' Championship.
