An elated John Booth says that Marussia's maiden points in Formula 1 shows that they are making progress in the sport. Jules Bianchi finished in ninth place during Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix to end Marussia's four year points drought. Team principal Booth is sure that, while acknowledging the high rate of attrition aided his team, they can consistently fight with the lower end of the midfield. "Naturally we are overjoyed at the result and it is a fantastic reward for all the hard work and […]
Jules Bianchi and Marussia expressed their elation after finally scoring their maiden points in Formula 1. Bianchi finished the race in eighth place but was demoted to ninth following a five second penalty - it was nonetheless his and the team's maiden points in the sport. "Wow," said an emotional Bianchi. "What a race and what a result for the whole Team. I am just incredibly happy, but first of all I have to pay credit to everyone at the Marussia for making this possible. […]
Jules Bianchi will start from 21st on the grid after picking up a penalty ahead of today's Monaco Grand Prix. Bianchi qualified in 19th but Marussia has been forced to change his gearbox, triggering a five place drop. Bianchi will begin the 78 lap encounter from 21st as Marcus Ericsson must start from the pit lane following his error in qualifying, when he crashed and took Felipe Massa with him.
Max Chilton says he is encouraged by Marussia's progress after he set the fastest time during the first day of the second in-season test in Spain. Chilton set a lap time late on the day on super soft tyres to beat his 10 rivals and put Marussia on top of the standings. "Generally we’ve had quite a successful day and to end it in P1 is obviously a real bonus," he said. "We’ve made steady progress throughout the day and to get the car to […]
Max Chilton believes that Sauber is now within Marussia's sights following the Spanish Grand Prix. Chilton finished the race in 19th place, a few positions behind Sauber drivers Esteban Gutierrez and Adrian Sutil. "I’m really pleased that we’ve seen a good step forward here and we’ve been able to lift our performance versus the cars around us," he said. "We’ve definitely gained a really strong advantage on the Caterhams and the Saubers are now in our sights, so well done to the Team. On a […]
Jules Bianchi says he has been encouraged by Marussia's improvements despite his difficult start to the 2014 season. Bianchi was unclassified in Australia while in Malaysia he received penalty points after colliding with Pastor Maldonado. In Bahrain, the French driver was handed a couple more penalty points after stewards deemed he was the guilty party when he made contact with the Sauber of Adrian Sutil. But Bianchi says he is lifted by Marussia's progress compared to last season. "I am hoping all my bad luck […]
Adrian Sutil hit out at Marussia's Jules Bianchi after the pair clashed twice within the space of one lap at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Sutil and Bianchi made contact at turn four before the Marussia driver dived down the inside of his German rival into turn one. The pair collided, with the resulting damage forcing Sutil to retire from the race. Bianchi was handed a drive through penalty and had his license endorsed with two penalty points, bringing his total up to four. "My race […]
Jules Bianchi reckons a lack of straight line speed hurt Marussia during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Bianchi qualified in 20th place for Sunday's race but was just a couple of tenths of a second down on Caterham's Kamui Kobayashi. "The car balance was pretty good today," he said. "We lost some time on the straight - 0.3s - which I thought we had got on top of and ultimately this cost us getting ahead of Kobayashi. It’s something we need to look at […]
Jules Bianchi is hoping that it'll be a case of 'third time lucky' at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix. The French driver has endured a challenging start to his second season in Formula 1 after a series of problems with his Marussia MR03. Bianchi was unclassified in Australia after a problem on the grid left him starting the race several laps down, while another mechanical woe ended his race prematurely in Malaysia but not before he picked up a couple of penalty points for causing […]
Jules Bianchi says he is hoping to exploit the potential of the Marussia MR03 at this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix. Bianchi achieved his best result of 2013 at Sepang courtesy of a 13th place finish, which eventually secured Marussia 10th place in the championship. Bianchi stalled on the grid in Melbourne but ultimately rejoined the action and made the finish, albeit eight laps down and unclassified. The French racer believes that there are positive signs for the team. "There were some good signs for us […]
Jules Bianchi was left frustrated after several problems scuppered his chances during qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix. Bianchi set the 18th fastest time but an electronics issue was exacerbated by gearbox woes which truncated the Frenchman's session. "After all the hard work from everybody this weekend, it is disappointing that we experienced an issue in qualifying which meant that I could not get the most from the car," he said. "Unfortunately we have experienced a few electronics problems again today and we thought we […]
Max Chilton says he and Marussia are targeting scoring their first Formula 1 points in Australia this weekend. The Brit is entering his second season in the sport and reckons a top 10 finish is achievable. "I try and bring the car home as much as possible but obviously the car's got to bring me home as well," he said. "I don't know what these numbers people are saying about the number of cars that are going to finish but you've just got to make […]
