Force India co-owner Vijay Mallya says that there is no rush for the team to decide on their 2014 driver line-up. Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil have raced for the team this season but Force India has only once retained a driver line-up in two successive seasons. Di Resta has raced for the team since the start of 2011, while Sutil returned to Force India this season after spending 2012 out of Formula 1. GP2 racer James Calado is currently the team's reserve driver. […]
Felipe Massa says that he was forced to take evasive action on the opening lap on the Korean Grand Prix, leading to him spinning at turn three. Massa started the race in sixth place and took the inside line into turn three but spun under braking and narrowly avoided team-mate Fernando Alonso. "Today’s race was really very complicated, because my chances of getting a good result evaporated right from the first lap, when I found myself in the middle of a group, all of us […]
Mark Webber believes that it was his KERS that caught fire following contact with Adrian Sutil during the Korean Grand Prix. Sutil hit the back of Webber under braking for turn three and while the Force India driver was able to continue, Webber's RB9 caught fire. "I don't know what happened, but obviously he hit me from the inside and that was that. There was quite a lot of damage at the back of the car and I hope it hasn't gone towards the chassis […]
Force India driver Paul di Resta says that the team needs to improve its one lap pace ahead of qualifying for the Korean Grand Prix. Di Resta was eleventh quickest in second practice, just a thousandth of a second behind team-mate Adrian Sutil. "It was quite a successful session and right from the first run I felt in the groove with the car," he said. "The long run pace looks promising and our tyre wear seems comparable to our rivals, which is a good sign. […]
Force India co-owner Vijay Mallya says that his team will not give up in the fight for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship. Force India is currently 14 points behind McLaren, with six races remaining in 2013. The first of those six races takes place in Korea this weekend. "The objective has not changed," said Mallya regarding Force India's plan for the last part of the year. "McLaren have a points lead over us, but they are not totally out of reach. As I’ve said […]
Adrian Sutil says that Force India is simply too slow to compete for the top 10 in Singapore. Sutil made it through to Q3 on his last appearance at Marina Bay in 2011 but could manage only fifteenth place on Saturday evening. "P15 is disappointing because it’s some way off where we were aiming to be," said Sutil. "We are just too slow to fight for the top ten at the moment and everyone is working hard to try and understand where we are losing […]
Adrian Sutil says that he is encouraged by Force India's progress during practice for the Singapore Grand Prix. Sutil was only sixteenth in the first practice session but jumped up to ninth place during the second 90 minute session. "It’s encouraging to be back in the top 10 and if we can do a similar run tomorrow with the super-soft tyres I think we can aim for the top 10 in qualifying," he said. "The main thing we need to work on tonight is our […]
Adrian Sutil is expecting Force India to put in an improved performance at this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix. Force India has scored just two points across the last four races, courtesy of ninth place for Sutil in Belgium. "Since the new tyres came in it was clearly a step down for us," Sutil said. "We used to be able to do one less stop in the race which was a big advantage compared to others and also the general balance of the car was much […]
Paul di Resta says he was simply caught out by rivals as he crashed out of the Italian Grand Prix on the opening lap. Di Resta hit the back of Lotus's Romain Grosjean, damaging the front left hand side of his Force India. "It has been one of those weekends to forget, starting with the brake failure yesterday and the early retirement today," he said. "I just got caught out going into the second chicane because the cars ahead of me got backed up – […]
Adrian Sutil has been given a three place grid penalty after impeding Lewis Hamilton during qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix. The stewards deemed that Sutil unintentionally impeded Hamilton at the Parabolica during the closing stages of Q2. Hamilton failed to make it through the session and lines up in twelfth place. Sutil was also eliminated and his penalty now means that he will start from seventeenth position.
British driver James Calado has joined Force India as their reserve driver. Calado, 24, is currently in fifth place in this season's GP2 championship and recently won the sprint race in Belgium. Calado also drove for Force India during the young drivers test at Silverstone. He will continue to race in GP2 and will also drive in first practice for Force India in Italy. "I’m pleased to confirm that we’ve signed James as our third driver," said team principal Vijay Mallya. "We worked with him […]
Pastor Maldonado has blamed Adrian Sutil for a collision that resulted in the retirement of Paul di Resta. Maldonado and Sutil made contact at the Bus Stop chicane and the Williams driver hit di Resta, causing the retirement of the latter. Maldonado was subsequently handed a stop and go penalty. Maldonado blamed Sutil for the crash. "I was touched by Adrian, my car jumped and I lost control and then he crossed the line," Maldonado said. "I’m disappointed for the penalty [and] disappointed for di […]
