Hulkenberg: In theory, Montreal will suit VJM07

Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg believes that the characteristics of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve should aid the team this weekend. Hulkenberg, who has scored points in every race this season, is hopeful that the long straights - as well as Pirelli's decision to bring soft compound tyres - will help their progress. "It’s difficult to say how we will perform in Montreal," he said. "In theory it should be one of the better tracks for us, but things change from race to race. It’s good […]

Perez admits more speed in Force India

Sergio Perez has admitted that he was unable to extract the maximum speed from the Force India VJM07, despite making it through to Q3 during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. Perez rounded out the top 10 but conceded that he should have put his car higher up on the grid. "Although it’s good to be in the top 10, I’m feeling a bit disappointed not to be higher up the grid," he said. "My hot lap in Q3 was quite difficult and I had […]

Hulkenberg pleased with positive day

Nico Hulkenberg labelled his start to the Monaco Grand Prix weekend as 'positive' after setting the seventh fastest time during second practice in Monaco. Hulkenberg remained in the garage for much of the 90 minute session but emerged from the pits on option tyres and led the times for a brief period, before dropping to seventh. "The car is okay," he said. "Generally we’re in the ballpark in terms of set-up – there’s the usual tweaks but it’s been a positive day. "We only ran […]

Hulkenberg confident of continuing points run

Nico Hulkenberg says that he is confident of continuing his streak of top 10 finishes after discovering aspects of his Force India which compromised his weekend in Spain. Hulkenberg has scored points in every race of 2014 but finished only 10th at the Spanish Grand Prix. The German reckons that Force India is encouraged after discovering issues with the VJM07 at last week's post-race test. "The target is as usual scoring points and I think doing the test after Barcelona we found some stuff on […]

Mallya: Drivers will have to be at their very best

Force India co-owner Vijay Mallya says that Formula 1 drivers will have to be at their very best to deal with the new cars around the streets of Monte Carlo this weekend. The Silverstone-based squad has scored points in every race this year and Mallya remains confident that Force India can extend that run in Monaco. "Monaco is one of the premier events of the year and hopefully we can perform well there," he said. "It’s a track where you can take nothing for granted […]

Damage limitation for Force India - Hulkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg said it was damage limitation for Force India at the Spanish Grand Prix. Hulkenberg finished in his lowest position in 2014 as he came home in tenth place. "It was a case of damage limitation today," he said. "We knew from the early practice sessions that this wasn't going to be our strongest track so to get two cars in the points is a positive result. The tyre degradation was high and the car was not so easy to drive, but I think […]

Force India duo optimistic despite Q2 exit

Force India drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez reckon they can recover positions in tomorrow's Spanish Grand Prix, despite their Q2 elimination. Hulkenberg qualified in 11th, marginally ahead of team-mate Perez in the sister VJM07. "My lap was very good and I am pleased with the effort we put in during qualifying," he said. "We made some steps forward with handling and set-up compared to FP3 this morning, but we still ended up a little bit short of Q3. Considering that we haven't been totally […]

Hulkenberg: Force India wants to remain in third

Nico Hulkenberg says that Force India is determined to remain in third place in the constructors' championship as Formula 1 returns to Europe this weekend. Hulkenberg, who has enjoyed a promising start to 2014, is adamant that Force India remains hungry to build on their good form at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix. Feature: Force India punching above its weight

Force India knew that they had a strong package ahead of the 2014 season, but travelling to the start of the European season sitting in third place in the championship has surely exceeded their expectations. More importantly, Force India hasn’t lucked into results through the misfortunes of others or a freak result. They’ve done it on merit. The Silverstone-based team switched their focus to 2014 early compared to some of their midfield rivals and they’re currently reaping the rewards. The VJM07 is a neatly packaged […]

Hulkenberg pleased with Force India 'sacrifices'

Nico Hulkenberg says that Force India is benefiting from sacrificing the second half of their 2013 season. Force India stopped developing their 2013 car prematurely in order to focus on their 2014 machine. The team suffered in 2013 as they slipped back but have benefited in 2014 after finishing every race in the top six and having claimed a podium in Bahrain courtesy of Sergio Perez. "I think new regulations create a reset for all teams," Hulkenberg told Times of India. "It changes the established […]

Perez pleased with 'good recovery'

Sergio Perez says he is pleased to finish in the points after recovering from a lowly grid slot at the Chinese Grand Prix. Perez started the race from 16th place but bounced back to claim ninth in China. "To start from P16 and finish in ninth place is a good recovery after a difficult qualifying session yesterday," he said. "I made a good start and after that I just focused on making the two-stop strategy work. I think everybody suffered with tyre graining and I […]

Hulkenberg rules out strike action

Nico Hulkenberg has dismissed concerns that Formula 1 drivers could strike over unpaid wages. Hulkenberg is reportedly one of a number of drivers who are owed money either by their current employer or previous teams. The German confirmed that members of the Grand Prix Drivers Association had discussed the matter but ruled out strike action. "It is an issue which we have been discussing in the GPDA," he told Sky Sports News. "It's not something we like, and in the pinnacle of motorsport it is […]
