Nico Hulkenberg says that he is confident of continuing his streak of top 10 finishes after discovering aspects of his Force India which compromised his weekend in Spain.

Hulkenberg has scored points in every race of 2014 but finished only 10th at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The German reckons that Force India is encouraged after discovering issues with the VJM07 at last week's post-race test.

"The target is as usual scoring points and I think doing the test after Barcelona we found some stuff on the car which was compromising our weekend there so I think knowing what we know now, our weekend could have been better," he said. "That’s encouraging, hopefully we can put it all together here. It’s going to be tough, that’s for sure."

"It’s Monaco, it’s special, you can never be too sure, you just have to start the weekend and build up the momentum and do the right things."

Hulkenberg also reckons that Pirelli's selection of the supersoft and soft tyres will aid them, as opposed to the medium and hards used in Spain.

"Our car likes softer compounds, so even softer would be a good thing but they’re [Pirelli] slightly conservative and it is what it is so we have to work around it," he said.

Hulkenberg does not think that the changes to the cars this season will have a huge effect on the number of errors across the weekend but admits that it'll be tricky to find the right balance.

"I don’t think it will be a day/night change, cars are a little loose with the walls close here," he said.

"It’s a balance between not risking and building up between FP1, FP2, FP3 and to get the most of yourself and that’s tough here as it can go very wrong very quickly but that’s what makes it so special as well."
