Vettel rounds off season with ninth successive victory

Sebastian Vettel signed off his 2013 championship season in style by storming to victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix, equalling Michael Schumacher's record of 13 wins in a single Formula 1 season. Vettel lost the lead to Nico Rosberg at the start but quickly got through on his compatriot and was never troubled as forecast rain failed to materialise. Vettel's only danger came when Red Bull did not have his tyres ready at his second stop, slashing his lead from 12 to five seconds. Mark […]

Caterham duo hoping for more rain

Caterham duo Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde say that wet weather would be preferable as they bid to snatch 10th place in the Constructors' championship from Marussia. Marussia has held the position since the first race in Australia but a 13th place finish for either Pic of Van der Garde would result in Caterham jumping ahead of their rivals in a battle that has lucrative financial outcomes. Last season, Caterham overhauled Marussia in the final race of the year in Brazil, one which […]

Adrian Sutil was left to lament a series of issues that resulted in him missing the cut for Q2 during qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. Whitmarsh helping Perez find 2014 seat

After dropping Sergio Perez for 2014, McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh says he is now trying to help the Mexican find a seat elsewhere in Formula One. After just one season with 23-year-old Perez, the Woking based team has decided to replace him with in-house development talent Kevin Magnussen. But McLaren has been criticised for making its decision so late that it could end Perez's F1 career. "People say our decision was terribly late, but what I have said to him is to stand back from […]

Great Dane: Kevin Magnussen's rise to Formula 1

The news that Kevin Magnussen will replace Sergio Pérez at McLaren in 2014 had been expected, but it’s nonetheless a bold gamble from a team aiming to return to the front next season. McLaren’s attempts to place Magnussen at Marussia or perhaps Force India for his rookie campaign – as Ferrari has done with Jules Bianchi – were ultimately fruitless. Rather than let Magnussen sit on the pit wall for a year, McLaren took the decision to promote Magnussen at the expense of Pérez. Considering […]

Raikkonen already regretting Ferrari return - pundit

Kimi Raikkonen might already be regretting his impending return to Ferrari, according to a pundit. The Finn had a particularly bad-tempered weekend in Abu Dhabi, starting with his no-show on Thursday and ending with a rare first-lap crash and rapid return to the airport in flip-flops. Former driver Christian Danner, now a pundit for German television RTL, thinks Raikkonen is not simply annoyed at his situation at Lotus, but also with his impending move to Ferrari. "Kimi is annoyed that his manager is sending him […]
