McLaren says Hamilton-to-Mercedes claims 'untrue'

Rumours about Lewis Hamilton's future have exploded. F1 team owner turned television pundit Eddie Jordan told the BBC he understands the 2008 world champion is on the verge of quitting McLaren to join Mercedes in 2013. "I believe Hamilton and Mercedes have already agreed personal terms and a deal could be imminent," he said. Jordan said he knows Hamilton's management - Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment - have had meetings with Mercedes chiefs. He said Hamilton, 27, will surely replace Michael Schumacher. "Bernie Ecclestone made it […]

Schumacher world's second richest sportsman

Michael Schumacher has been pipped at the post in the race to be the world's richest sportsman. According to the Sunday Times' annual listings, the seven time world champion's (US) $823 million in career earnings is beaten only by golf legend Tiger Woods. American Woods has earned $869 million in his own ultra-successful career, the newspaper found. And the Sunday Times said the pair have each earned hundreds of millions of dollars more than other high-earning sportsmen, including Michael Jordan ($516m), Roger Federer ($316m) and […]

"There is a lot going on, we have spoken with many people and there are things to be resolved, including the family aspect," the 39-year-old told radio Bandeirantes on Tuesday. "There is […]

How Kimi spent his time away from F1 – Part 2

All throughout 2010 Kimi Raikkonen was a silly season by himself. The rumours about what he would do in 2011 started even before he stepped into his Red Bull-sponsored Citroen C4 for the first time in January 2010. The main question was whether he was going to return to F1 or not, but the Iceman would never give a clear answer. He was linked to the Red Bull F1 team and later on with Renault, yes, the same team he is going to drive for […]

Jordan fumbles while meeting new Force India owner

Force India has a new billionaire as a co-owner, but the team's founder had no idea. Eddie Jordan, now an expert pundit for British television BBC, walked up to Sahara's Subrata Roy in the Buddh paddock last Sunday and asked: "You're a guest of (team boss) Vijay's (Mallya)?" Roy answered: "I'm his brother." Jordan: "You're a brother? Well then I know your mother, and we go to the same Indian restaurant in London, how cool is that?" Ecclestone tips Hamilton to bounce back

Bernie Ecclestone has tipped Lewis Hamilton to bounce back from his current trough. The 2008 world champion has been sombre in the paddock and out of shape on the track this season, with Eddie Jordan saying the Briton has "lost his mojo". "In life you go through ups and downs," F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone is quoted by Germany's Sport1. "I think he is just going through a rough phase in his life in general, but Lewis will come back because he is great." Tuttosport […]

Rosberg quiet as Ferrari rumours heat up

Rumours Nico Rosberg could be flirting with a switch to Ferrari are gaining strength this week. A source triggered the speculation by telling the Cologne publication Express that the 26-year-old is "thinking about" the famous Italian team. Mercedes' Rosberg, however, has a contract for 2012, as does Fernando Alonso's Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa. But Bild newspaper reports that Rosberg "has a clause that allows him an early termination under certain circumstances". After India, Rosberg openly criticised his race strategy that appeared to have favoured teammate […]

The BBC and pay-channel Sky will share the British hosting rights next year, with the public broadcaster to televise only a handful of grands prix. French commentator Jean-Louis Moncet revealed in his Auto […]

Schumacher 'can't go on' predicts Damon Hill

Damon Hill has tipped his former championship nemesis Michael Schumacher to soon quit formula one. The pair fought mercilessly for titles in the mid 90s - famously clashing at the 1994 Adelaide decider - and were never friends throughout the period until Hill retired in 1999. When the Briton last raced for Jordan, he was 39. "By then I was too old to go on," Hill told Italy's Motorinside. "After a certain age you're no longer able to be as fast or consistent, much less […]
