Former Formula 1 driver Eddie Irvine has criticised the sport following the decision to award double points for the final round of the season. Under the new sporting regulations, the final round of the season will count for double points, meaning that 50 points will be awarded to the winner of next year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, rather than the usual 25. Irvine raced for Jordan, Ferrari and Jaguar in a career spanning a decade, finishing as runner-up to Mika Hakkinen in 1999. "I think […]

Lotus team boss Eric Boullier said as recently as last Friday that he is doing "everything we can" to convince Kimi Raikkonen to stay next season. Jordan, a former F1 team owner turned broadcaster for British television, thinks the Finn will ultimately decide to turn down Red Bull's admitted strong interest. Given the tools that we have, which are mostly of the Jordan era, we have done exceptionally well". The Silverstone […]
Alain Prost has admitted he can imagine former rival Michael Schumacher extending his career into a twentieth season in 2013. When asked about Schumacher's deliberations now that he has been ousted by Mercedes, Frenchman Prost answered: "I was not particularly positive when he returned (in 2010). I don't quite understand why. "Maybe he's going to Sauber now?" the quadruple world champion told RMC Sport, after testing a modern Red Bull F1 car at the Renault World Series event at Paul Ricard. "It's a very personal […]
Martin Whitmarsh left Monza insisting McLaren has "no plan B" in the event Lewis Hamilton jumps ship for 2013. But that's not according to the latest media speculation, which is mentioning Force India's Paul di Resta and former McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen as potential candidates to replace the 2008 world champion and Monza winner. Plan A, however, is undoubtedly re-signing Hamilton. "I can imagine we'll have some conversations before Singapore," team boss Whitmarsh said. But he also admitted it is not too late to slot […]

Haug is quoted by SID news agency as revealing the team is conducting "open and faithful" talks with Schumacher. And when asked about Hamilton, he added: "Lewis grew up with us (Mercedes) and […]
