Grosjean wins Race of Champions

Romain Grosjean has won the 2012 Race of Champions in Thailand. The Lotus F1 driver beat Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen in the final to claim his first ever triumph in the competition. The 'Champions of Champions' competition is an individual contest, in which drivers face each other in a 'best of three' knockout format. Vettel and Schumacher win RoC Nations Cup

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel and seven times world champion Michael Schumacher have won the Race of Champions Nations Cup for the sixth successive season. The F1 champions teamed up yet again to stretch their unbeaten record in the competition, a trophy they first won back in 2007 during Schumacher's first retirement and when Vettel was starting his F1 career with Toro Rosso. Latvala ahead in Sweden

Jari Matti Latvala powered ahead on the opening day of Rally Sweden after a commanding performance in the afternoon bunch of stages. Latvala had been embroiled in a close fight all day with ex team-mate Mikko Hirvonen although the former dealt with high tyre wear better than his rivals to move seventeen seconds clear with just a superspecial stage left remaining today. Loeb continues to dominate in Monte Carlo

Sebastien Loeb's domination of the opening round of the WRC season in Monte Carlo continued on day two of the rally. Loeb now leads by 97 seconds after winning all but one of today's stages. The only stage not won by the world champion was SS8, when Dani Sordo trumped his former team mate by 0.2s. Ogier to lead Volkswagen attack

Sebastien Ogier has joined Volkswagen for a three-year deal, following his departure from Citroen. The Frenchman, who finished 3rd in this year's World Rally Championship, was released from his contract following disputes with Sebastien Loeb. "Sebastien Ogier has been signed as the first official Volkswagen driver for the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC)," the German team said in a statement. Hirvonen wins Swedish thriller

2009 WRC runner-up Mikko Hirvonen kicked off the new era of the championship in style with a thrilling win in Sweden. It was a Ford 1-2-3 as Mads Ostberg, driving for Stobart Ford, put in a stunning drive to finish within touching distance of Hirvonen, and ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala

Mikko Hirvonen will go into the final day of the opening round of the championship in Sweden in the lead, but the top 5 is covered by a mere 15 seconds. Hirvonen and Mads Ostberg struggled this afternoon as the stages had been used by Swedish entrants since the first running of the stages.
