Force India optimistic after strong practice sessions

Sergio Perez believes Force India can continue its recent form after an encouraging pair of practice sessions at the European Grand Prix. Perez and team-mate Nico Hulkenberg both scored points in Monaco and Canada, with the Mexican driver finishing on the podium in the Principality, lifting Force India to fifth in the standings. Ricciardo explains crash at 'unique' circuit

Daniel Ricciardo thanked his Red Bull mechanics for an "awesome" repair job after he crashed out of the first practice session for the European Grand Prix. Ricciardo slid wide exiting Turn 15 during the first 90-minute session and caused substantial damage the right rear of his RB12 after hitting the wall. Sebastian Vettel says he is confident Ferrari can make gains following a low-key pair of practice sessions ahead of the European Grand Prix at the Baku City Circuit. Lewis Hamilton maintained his strong form by setting the quickest time during the second practice session for the European Grand Prix at the Baku City Circuit. Hamilton was on course for the fastest time until a mistake at Turn 16 on his first flying lap, but he regrouped on his second attempt to record a time of 1:44.223 on the Super Soft tyres. Lewis Hamilton led a Mercedes 1-2 during the first practice session for the European Grand Prix at the new Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan. Hamilton moved to the front with a time of 1:46.489 midway through the 90 minute session as both Mercedes drivers ran on the Super Soft tyres. Whiting: Baku to be a 'faster' Singapore

Formula 1 Race Director Charlie Whiting is adamant that the Baku City Circuit will be ready for Formula 1's visit next month and has compared the layout to a faster version of the Singapore track. The layout for the Baku European Grand Prix has been unveiled by Bernie Ecclestone and Azerbaijan's Minister for Youth and Sport, Azad Rahimov.
