Pierre Gasly hailed a 'special' day as he made his Formula 1 test debut with Toro Rosso at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Tuesday.

GP2 racer Gasly racked up 131 laps in the STR10 and ended the day with the seventh quickest time, ahead of his day in the Red Bull RB11 on Wednesday.

"It was exceptional, you know the first time you jump in a Formula 1 car it is always something really special for a driver," he said.

"I wanted to get as much as experience as possible, I think it's what we did. I did over 130 laps so we covered many things, aero test, it was really useful for me and I could enjoy the Formula 1 car."

Gasly said that his main challenge was adapting to the power steering and braking of the Formula 1 car.

"I had to adapt myself to it as it's really light and I had to work a bit on this, and after all this the braking is really efficient on the Formula 1 car," he concluded.
