After a few days of in-season testing at Bahrain last week, Formula One moves to Sochi for the fourth round of the 2017 season, the Russian Grand Prix. The event will be held at Sochi Autodrom, a technical circuit characterised by hard braking into low-speed corners. It is also one of the longest tracks in Formula One, as only Spa-Francorchamps (7.004 kilometers), Baku City Circuit (6.006 kilometers) and Silverstone (5.891 kilometers) are longer. After a productive test in Bahrain, Renault Sport Formula One Team Third and Reserve Driver Sergey Sirotkin will take over Nico Hülkenberg’s duties for the first practice session in Sochi. This will be Sirotkin's first taste of the RS17 in a GP session, with the next one being scheduled for the Spanish GP. Force India driver Nico Hülkenberg topped a disrupted opening practice session for the Russian Grand Prix at the Sochi Autodrom. The start of the session was delayed by half an hour, following a suspected diesel spillage between Turns 6 and 10 earlier in the morning. Track workers cleared the spillage but the circuit in that area was left soaked, leaving drivers to use Intermediate tyres, as Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel described the situation as a ‘mess’, with the remainder of the circuit bone dry. Organisers of the Russian Grand Prix say that the change in the scheduling of the race from next year will boost the event. Formula 1 raced at the Sochi Autodrom for the first time last October and 2015's event will take place on the corresponding weekend later this year.
