Manor driver Pascal Wehrlein admitted he was disappointed with his result at the Russian Grand Prix after a battle with rivals from Sauber accelerated tyre wear on the MRT05. Wehrlein scrapped with Felipe Nasr on several occasions but had to pit for a second time, dropping him to the back of the pack. Wehrlein's situation was exacerbated by a problem with the left rear tyre in the pits, costing the youngster 20 seconds, as he trailed home in 18th place. "A disappointing result," he said. […]
Manor rookie Pascal Wehrlein says that the squad is now working well as a team, as it bids to move further up the Formula 1 grid. Manor finished significantly adrift of the pack in 2015 but gains made over the winter has enabled Wehrlein to fight among more established teams, finishing a high of 13th in Bahrain. "Fundamentally we have a good package and every race we’re making progress, but it’s still very early days," said Wehrlein. "There’s plenty we can do in every area […]
Manor driver Pascal Wehrlein says the outfit's performance during the Chinese Grand Prix reflects its position in the 2016 pecking order, after the rookie came home in 18th position. Wehrlein crashed out of qualifying and started from 21st position but stayed out behind the Safety Car to run as high as fourth, before slipping back through the order. Manor fitted Super Soft tyres to Wehrlein's car for the final stint of the race in a bid to chase Renault's Kevin Magnussen, but his charge fell […]
Pascal Wehrlein hailed the progress made by Manor after he was able to sustain a race-long fight in the midfield and collect 13th place at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Wehrlein qualified in 16th position and moved forwards at the start, briefly running as high as seventh through the pit stop phase, and finished ahead of both Force India drivers and Sauber's Felipe Nasr. "It was a great race for me," he said. "I can’t even compare it to the one in Melbourne because it felt […]
Pascal Wehrlein hailed the progress made by Manor after he qualified in 16th position for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Wehrlein comfortably out-qualified team-mate Rio Haryanto and set a couple of eye-catching laps, only narrowly missing out on a place in Q2. Wehrlein praised Manor for the progress it made since the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, where he qualified at the back of the field. "I’m really happy with qualifying, the team has done an incredible job," he said. "It’s not [even a] comparison to Melbourne, […]
Pascal Wehrlein says Manor can be encouraged by its potential, despite completing his maiden Formula 1 race as the last of the classified finishers in Australia. Wehrlein placed 16th after late struggles with tyre wear and brakes, but had earlier surged from 21st to 15th on the first lap, before maintaining his position across the opening stint. "First of all it’s great to finish my first race and thanks to the team for that," he said. "I got a fantastic start and I was very […]
Manor has confirmed that Alexander Rossi will remain with the team this year as its official reserve driver. Having spent several years as reserve at the defunct Caterham squad and having occupied the same role at Marussia, Rossi stepped up to a race seat in Singapore last year. The American driver participated in five of the final seven events, alongside his GP2 duties, but was unable to retain his seat this year as Manor signed Pascal Wehrlein and Rio Haryanto. Alongside his Manor role, Rossi […]
Manor's Racing Director Dave Ryan says he is encouraged by the progress made by rookie Rio Haryanto across the course of pre-season testing in Spain. Haryanto has stepped up to Formula 1 after spending four years in the GP2 Series, but suffered off-track excursions across the first week of testing, which partially impacted his programme. Haryanto completed two largely error-free days during the second test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Ryan is upbeat over the Indonesian's trajectory. "We ran through a bit of everything […]
Pascal Wehrlein says he is encouraged by Manor's deficit to the front runners, and believes that the squad has made substantial progress during pre-season testing. Wehrlein, who will make his Formula 1 debut in Australia, was eighth quickest on his last test day in the MRT05, 2.2 seconds slower than pace setter Kimi Raikkonen. Manor spent 2015 significantly adrift of the pack but the German youngster is upbeat over the outfit's potential. "Already the car feels a lot better than the one we started with […]

"Spending time trackside with the team last year was really important for me and for where […]
Manor driver Rio Haryanto says he was pushing to the limit when he crashed out of the final day of the first test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Haryanto had racked up a century of laps when he erred at Turn 4 and slid backwards into the gravel, with the rear of his Manor MRT05 making contact with the barriers on the outside of the corner. The crash truncated Haryanto's running an hour and a half into the afternoon session and he ended the day […]
