Bottas: Williams boosted by podium result

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas says that he hopes his podium position at the Canadian Grand Prix will act as a springboard for the squad to enjoy a strong spell of results. Bottas took his first podium in Formula 1 in Austria last year and consequently followed it up with further top three finishes across the mid-season stint. Bottas took advantage of an error by Kimi Raikkonen in Canada to collect Williams' first top three finish of 2015 and reckons the result will boost the team. […]

Williams expecting return to form

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas says that the squad is expecting a return to form in Canada this weekend after it suffered a dip in performance in Monaco. Neither Bottas nor team-mate Felipe Massa managed to collect a top 10 result in Monaco but the Finn posted the sixth fastest time during practice at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve prior to torrential rain. "The rain compromised FP2 for everyone but we knew it was coming so we were able to do a little bit of work at […]

Bottas sure Williams will bounce back

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas is adamant that the squad will bounce back after its poorest showing since Formula 1 moved to V6 power units at the start of 2014. Bottas claimed only 14th place in Monaco, ahead of team-mate Felipe Massa, as neither Williams driver scored points for the first time since the end of 2013. But the Finn is confident that Williams, which still occupies third in the Constructors' championship, will return to its usual position for the upcoming races. "After a weekend like […]

Williams duo lament tough Monaco weekend

Williams pair Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa were left to lament on a tough weekend for the squad as neither driver scored points in Monaco. Bottas' two stop strategy failed to bear fruit as he took 14th place, while team-mate Massa was involved in a collision at the start which restricted him to 15th. "This has been a tough weekend that ended in an even tougher race," said Bottas. "We tried everything to try and get some points but with the pace we had it […]

Williams admits lack of Monaco pace

Williams drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas admitted the squad simply lacks pace after neither made it through to Q3 at the Monaco Grand Prix. Massa was only 14th fastest while Bottas fell at the first hurdle and will line-up from 17th position. "There were no major issues during qualifying that caused us to be out of position; Monaco just isn’t a circuit that suits the characteristics of our car," said Massa. "We struggled throughout the day and found it hard to set the lap […]

No point running in wet - Massa

Felipe Massa says that predicted dry conditions for the remainder of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend led to an absence of track action when wet weather struck the second practice session on Thursday. Heavy rain hit Monte Carlo 15 minutes into the session and drivers remained in the pit lane until the final 10 minutes, before emerging for some exploratory laps. "It hasn’t been as productive a day as we would have liked as the rain restricted our running," said Massa, who ultimately placed 12th. […]

Lynn pleased with Williams test outing

Alex Lynn was left satisfied after receiving his first test outing with Williams at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Wednesday. GP2 driver Lynn, who occupies a development role with the squad, completed 52 laps in the Mercedes-powered FW37 and ended running with the fifth quickest time. "I think it’s been extremely special, really pleased with how it went, I got through the whole programme, got a nice feeling for the car, it was very positive," he said. Lynn added that it took him a while […]

Bottas happy to split Ferrari drivers

Williams' Valtteri Bottas expressed happiness after he switched strategies mid-race and managed to split the Ferrari drivers for a second successive race. Having beaten Sebastian Vettel to fourth position at the most recent round in Bahrain, Bottas maintained fourth place across the course of the race, resisting a late charge from compatriot Kimi Raikkonen. "It feels good to split the Ferraris for a second race in a row and this has been another solid points haul for the team," he said. "Tyre life was better […]

Wolff sure she'd qualify for super licence

Williams test driver Susie Wolff says she has no worries about earning a super licence when the regulations are tightened for 2016. The FIA will introduce a points system for junior championships next season, meaning drivers will have to achieve certain placings in single seater categories if they are to join the Formula 1 grid. But Wolff, who participated in the first practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix, is sure that her experience with Williams will leave her with no problems. "I would hope […]

Bottas rejects Ferrari speculation

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas has dismissed speculation linking him with a future seat at Ferrari. Recent rumours have suggested that the Finn had signed a pre-contract with the Italian squad, but Bottas rejected such ideas and says that he is focused on Williams. "I’ve heard plenty of stories and it is sometimes quite funny sometimes to hear those, because at in the end you know what the case is and what is not," he said. "There are a lot of people making up stuff and […]

Williams posts substantial 2014 losses

Williams Grand Prix Holdings has announced that it reported sizeable losses in 2014 - though is adamant that matters will improve this year. Revenues fell from £130.4m to £90.2 between 2013 and 2014, which the team pins on a substantial one-off sponsorship payment in 2013, as well as the squad's lowly championship placing two years ago, when it was ninth. The squad is confident that its subsequent restructuring process - which led to a third place finish last year - means that its annual loss […]
