Red Bull pair play down practice pace

Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo played down Red Bull's pace during practice for the Singapore Grand Prix, after an encouraging second session for the team. Kvyat set the quickest time while Ricciardo clocked the third best lap, despite being held up by Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel while provisionally on course to go top. "We expected the car to perform better at this track because it has fewer straights" said Kvyat, who had a fuel systems problem in the opening session. "This afternoon, it didn’t look bad […]

Pirelli to define clearer tyre regulations

Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli says it will be working with the FIA to define a clearer procedure following the tyre pressure situation which affected Mercedes at the Italian Grand Prix. Mercedes was investigated after the race when its tyre pressures on the grid were deemed to be too low, following a tweak to the recommended minimum limit after a couple of tyre failures in Belgium. Mercedes was later cleared of any wrongdoing when it was concluded that its tyre pressures did not flout the […]

Driver ratings: Singapore GP

We rate the drivers for their performance in the 2014 edition of the Singapore Grand Prix 1 | Sebastian Vettel | Red Bull-Renault | Q: 4th | R: 2nd | 9/10 Vettel was back on form in the first practice session as he explored the limits, but engine failure put paid to much of his second session. Scruffy qualifying lap cost him a shot at pole position and he was naturally downbeat. He made a good start to jump ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and briefly […]
