No further action over Vettel/Perez contact

Stewards at the Bahrain Grand Prix have deemed that no further action is necessary after Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Perez made contact during second practice at the circuit. Vettel exited the pit lane with around 10 minutes of the session remaining but despite backing off he made contact with Force India rival Perez at Turn 1. Perez's car was undamaged in the contact but Vettel lost part of the front wing from his Ferrari, with the session briefly halted to allow marshals to recover debris. […]

Force India upbeat despite lack of points

Sergio Perez says he was encouraged by Force India's progress despite leaving China empty-handed after he finished the race in 11th position. Perez spent much of the race battling towards the back of the midfield but was unable to creep into the points. "We raced very hard today, but in the end it wasn’t quite enough to come away with some points," he said. "With the strategy we looked at all the opportunities and switched to three stops quite early in the race, which was […]

Perez braced for tough season with Force India

Sergio Perez says Force India could be in for a tough season and is pinning his hopes on a B-specification car, which is scheduled to make its debut in a couple of months' time. Force India's VJM08 was delayed and only ran on the final three days of pre-season testing, leaving the squad behind its rivals in terms of development. The team claimed seven points in Australia but left Malaysia empty-handed and is wary that the next part of the season is likely to be […]

Trio handed penalty points for incidents

Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez and Pastor Maldonado have all been handed penalty points for transgressions during the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Force India pair were handed two penalty points each for incidents with Daniil Kvyat and Romain Grosjean respectively, for which they were also given a 10 second time drop in the race. It is Hulkenberg's first penalty points, while Perez now has four, to add to his two he accrued when he hit Adrian Sutil in the United States last year. Pastor Maldonado was […]

Perez disappointed by Malaysia penalty

Force India driver Sergio Perez said that his contact with Romain Grosjean was simply a racing incident, after he was handed a 10 second penalty for the collision. Grosjean attempted to go around the outside of Perez at Turn 12 but the pair made contact, with Grosjean spinning and Perez continuing on his way. But the stewards deemed that Perez was to blame and handed down a sanction before the Mexican went on to finish outside of the points in 13th place. "We knew ahead […]

Hulkenberg hoped for earlier rain storm

Nico Hulkenberg says that Force India may have progressed through to the top 10 shootout for the Malaysian Grand Prix had the rain arrived sooner, but acknowledged that their Q3 prospects were slim. Hulkenberg set the 13th quickest time as rain deluged the Sepang circuit during the early stages of Q2, shortly after the drivers had managed to post a time on the slick tyres. "Maybe it would have been better for us if the rain had arrived five minutes earlier and Q2 was completely […]

Hulkenberg wary of tough races for Force India

Nico Hulkenberg is wary that the next sequence of races could be 'tough' for Force India after he claimed points in the first event of the year in Australia. Force India is behind schedule after only introducing its VJM08 at the final pre-season test but Hulkenberg capitalised on the misfortune of others to claim seventh place, with team-mate Sergio Perez in 10th. But despite claiming a handful of points in Australia, Hulkenberg is aware that the squad could face a challenging string of races before […]

Hulkenberg, Perez pleased with Force India points

Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez were delighted to take home points for Force India as the squad recovered from a troublesome pre-season at the Australian Grand Prix. Hulkenberg collected seventh, while Perez recovered from a collision with Jenson Button to round out the top 10. "I am very pleased with today's result and starting the season with two cars in the points is always positive," said Hulkenberg. "It was a good race; I didn't make any mistakes and, while the reliability of our car helped […]

Realistic Force India satisfied with grid slots

A realistic Force India duo say they extracted the maximum from the VJM08 during qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix. Nico Hulkenberg qualified in 14th position, just a thousandth of a second ahead of team-mate Sergio Perez. "We always want to be further up the grid, but being realistic I don’t think we had the performance today to challenge for Q3," said Hulkenberg. "However, it’s only the first qualifying session of the season, so it’s still very early days and we have a lot of […]

Perez braced for painful start to 2015

Sergio Perez says that Force India is braced for a 'painful' start to 2015 after a disrupted pre-season period. Perez's squad did not introduce its new car until the final batch of pre-season tests and while the VJM08 ran reliably, Perez is aware that the team is behind its rivals. Force India enjoyed a positive start in 2014 - scoring over 50 points across the first four races - but the Mexican is aware that this year will be a different prospect. "We are not […]

Force India unveils 2015 livery in Mexico

Force India has unveiled its new 2015 livery and front nose during a team launch in Mexico. The squad took the wraps from its 2014 car - which featured the team's 2015 nose design - at an event in Mexico City, ahead of Formula 1’s return to the country later this year. Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez have been retained to drive the Mercedes-powered machine, with team principal Vijay Mallya targeting podium finishes. The team confirmed on Tuesday that its 2015 car, the VJM08, will […]

Force India pair happy with big points haul

Force India pair Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez claimed sixth and seventh to ensure that the squad departed the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with 28 points. Hulkenberg and Perez both started from outside of the top 10 but made progress, albeit their haul was not sufficient for the squad to jump ahead of McLaren in the fight for fifth in the Constructors' Championship. Hulkenberg was sixth despite having to take a five second penalty for forcing Kevin Magnussen off the track on the opening lap. […]
