Leading figures expecting reliability issues in 2014

Leading Formula 1 figures are anticipating that reliability issues will affect the sport in 2014. Next year, Formula 1 will overhaul the current technical regulations, with the biggest change being the introduction of 1.6 litre v6 power units, which feature an Energy Recovery System. But both Ferrari's James Allison and Red Bull's Adrian Newey believe that races could feature reliability problems. "I think that the size of the rule change means that there will be some unanticipated reshuffling of the pack in terms of where […]

Jenson Button says that he didn't cause a dangerous situation by overtaking under red flags during practice for the United States Grand Prix but accepted that he had to be given a penalty. Button overtook Daniil Kvyat's Toro Rosso after the session was suspended due to technical problems with the medical helicopter. As a result, Button will drop three place on the grid from wherever he qualifies. "Both sessions today were quite positive," Button said after setting the ninth fastest time. Pastor Maldonado says he is 'very happy' at the prospect of leaving Williams, believing that he delivered more to the team than they did for him. Williams confirmed on Monday that Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas will race for the team in 2014, ending their three year association with Maldonado. Maldonado won the Spanish Grand Prix for the team last year, but in both 2011 and 2013 the Venezuelan has scored just a single point. "I am very happy," he said. "Since a couple of […]

Bottas: Result not reflective of pace

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas believes that his result at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is not reflective of his pace after finishing the race in 15th place. Bottas dropped behind slower rivals at the start but ran within the top 10 for several parts of the race. "I don't think P15 was really reflective of the pace we had today," he said. "My race was compromised by the first lap when I was jumped by the Caterhams who started on the option tyres and so […]
