Ricciardo encouraged by first run in RB12

Daniel Ricciardo says he is encouraged by Red Bull's RB12 after sampling the car for the first time during pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Ricciardo clocked a time of 1:26.044 to end third fastest, clocking up 87 laps at the home of the Spanish Grand Prix. "That was pretty good," he said. "I think we had a few niggles but we still managed almost 90 laps. "It was a day for testing reliability: for me, seeing how fit I am after a long […]

Red Bull reveals new Formula 1 car

Red Bull has publicly debuted its RB12 as it braces for a challenging year after a troubled 2015 season. Red Bull, which last week unveiled its 2016 livery in London, claimed four successive titles between 2010 and 2013 but slipped behind Mercedes when the sport introduced V6 power units in 2014. The outfit regressed further in 2015 as it slipped to fourth in the standings and finished on the podium only twice. That led to an acrimonious split with power unit supplier Renault, though the […]

The outfit, which collected successive world titles between 2010 and 2013, slipped to fourth in the standings amid initial struggles with its chassis and season-long frustration with power unit supplier Renault. Red Bull ultimately remained with Renault for 2016 but its power units will be rebranded under the guise of new partners Tag Heuer. "Over the years we evolved a certain look but […]

Kvyat hopeful over 'small signs of progress'

Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat says he would be satisfied if the outfit could demonstrate "small signs of progress" at the start of the 2016 campaign. Red Bull last year endured its worst season since it emerged as a Formula 1 front runner as initial deficiencies with its RB11 chassis were accentuated by performance and reliability issues with the Renault power unit. Kvyat eventually placed seventh in the standings and collected his first podium in Hungary as Red Bull classified fourth overall and the Russian […]

Pierre Gasly will remain as Red Bull's reserve driver in Formula 1 this year, alongside his duties in the GP2 Series. Gasly spent the latter part of 2015 as Red Bull's reserve driver and travelled to Formula 1 races with the outfit. "Of course I’m really pleased to carry on with the […]

Red Bull to conduct livery launch

Red Bull will reveal its 2016 livery during an event in London on February 17, the team has announced. Red Bull confirmed on Thursday that it will conduct a gathering in association with returning sponsor Puma, ahead of the start of the 2016 campaign. Red Bull won the championship between 2010 and 2013 but has slipped back through the order since V6 power units were introduced at the start of 2014, placing a win-less fourth in 2015. Red Bull's event will be held a handful […]

Red Bull unveils tweaked team logo

Red Bull has revealed a modified version of its team logo after splitting from title sponsor Infiniti. Infiniti, a luxury Japanese manufacturer, linked up with the outfit prior to the 2011 campaign and became the squad's title sponsor in 2013. However, Red Bull's acromonious relationship with Renault has led to the partnership with Infiniti coming to an end. Red Bull will continue to hold a partnership with Renault this year, albeit in a reduced capacity with the power units re-branded under the Tag Heuer guise. […]

Engine domination is unhealthy - Newey

Red Bull chief designer Adrian Newey believes that the current advantage held by engine manufacturers in Formula 1 has left the sport in an unhealthy position. Red Bull claimed four successive world titles during an era when an aerodynamic advantage was required, but the emphasis has shifted to engine superiorty since V6 power units were introduced at the start of 2014. Red Bull has not won a race since Daniel Ricciardo's victory in the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix, with Mercedes having won 23 of the […]

Red Bull confirms Infiniti split

Red Bull has confirmed that it has split with Infiniti, following the change to its Renault deal for the 2016 season. Red Bull's Renault engines will be branded under the Tag Heuer guise following its souring relationship with the French manufacturer and, consequently, its title sponsor Infiniti will depart. Infiniti joined Red Bull in 2011 and became its title sponsor ahead of the 2013 campaign, with the change reflected by an increase in purple on the outfit's livery. "We would like to say a big […]

Kvyat satisfied with first year at Red Bull

Daniil Kvyat says he is satisfied by his level of performance after finishing his first season of Formula 1 racing with Red Bull. Kvyat competed for Toro Rosso in 2014 and was set to stay on at the outfit in 2015 until Sebastian Vettel's departure to Ferrari enabled the Russian to be promoted to the senior Red Bull squad. Kvyat recovered from a difficult start to score his maiden podium in Hungary and beat team-mate Daniel Ricciardo to seventh place in the standings. "I think […]

Kvyat hampered by electrical issues

Daniil Kvyat says his chances of claiming a strong finish at the Abu Dhab Grand Prix were hindered by an electrical problem in his Red Bull RB11. Kvyat was challenging Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg for seventh spot but his car overheated, affecting the performance and causing the Russian driver to slip back to 10th. "It was good that we managed to finish and I was happy with my pace in the first half of the race," he said. "So, up until about midway, it […]
