Force India's elephant in the room

[singlepic id=8753 w=320 h=240 float=right]It’s the elephant in the room. Actually, it’s the elephant in the pit garage and then, later on, in the media centre. What am I talking about, I hear you say. Well, a very obvious missing feature at Force India’s launch at a chilly but bright Silverstone was half of the driver line-up. Paul di Resta took the covers off of the VJM06 before taking questions from the media in a corner of the media centre. He looked distinctly uneasy at […]

Force India unveils the VJM06 at Silverstone

Sahara Force India unveiled its 2013 challenger today as Paul Di Resta pulled the covers off the VJM06 at Silverstone circuit. The VJM06 is the third car to be overseen by Technical Director, Andrew Green, and builds on the strengths of the 2012 car. With stable technical rules the car is more evolution than revolution with the removal of the ‘step’ nose being the most obvious visual change. “The VJM06 doesn’t look massively different to its predecessor, but beneath the skin we’ve looked at every […]

Di Resta out to impress top teams

Paul di Resta has said that he needs to pick up decent results in 2013 to put himself in the frame for top teams. Di Resta was overlooked by McLaren, who plucked for Mexican driver Sergio Perez to replace Mercedes bound Lewis Hamilton. The Scot told Autosport International that he held talks with McLaren about a move. "I'm not going to give away too much, but yes, there were discussions", he said. "I've got a great relationship with McLaren. Martin Whitmarsh was actually the key […]

Force India driver wait surprises di Resta

Force India's Paul di Resta has said that he is surprised that the team has yet to announce their second driver for 2013. Nico Hulkenberg left the team for Sauber at the end of 2012, with several names - including former driver Adrian Sutil and reserve Jules Bianchi - being linked to the vacant seat. "I am surprised there has been nothing yet. The team have said they will announce it in good time as to where they are going to be, and I have […]

Di Resta hoping for top team switch in 2014

Paul di Resta has admitted he is hoping to step up to a better team in 2014. Still yet to be confirmed by Force India for 2013, the Scot is however expected to stay with the Silverstone based squad for his third consecutive season on the grid. But the 26-year-old was openly disappointed this year when overlooked by top teams for the 2013 season, such as McLaren who instead signed Sergio Perez to replace the departing Lewis Hamilton. Di Resta's 2012 Force India teammate Nico […]

Paul Di Resta satisfied with good 2012 season

Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that his second season in Formula One has been 'good'. Di Resta scored a career best finish of fourth place in Singapore and has amassed forty-six points in 2012. "I think as a whole it has been a good year". When you look at the results on paper, it certainly doesn’t […]

Force India coming to America

Force India head to American soil for the first time this week as they prepare to take part in the United States Grand Prix in Austin. Nico Hulkenberg retired on the opening lap in Abu Dhabi, while Paul di Resta claimed ninth place. "I’ve not spent a lot of time in America so I’m looking forward to being there and seeing some of the country", said Hulkenberg. "I’ve visited New York before, but that’s as much as I’ve done. I love the people and the […]

Downcast Di Resta disappointed in Delhi

Paul di Resta expressed his disappointment at Force India's worst qualifying result since Monaco. The British driver managed only sixteenth on the grid at his team's home race. "Difficult" di Resta told Sky Sports F1 when asked about the session. "Probably the worst I’ve been in the car all year. I didn’t do a good job, so it’s just disappointing because we wanted to go into qualifying with a strong car. But when you lack confidence you can't get it out of the car." "This is an […]

Di Resta's day punctured in India

Force India driver Paul di Resta was frustrated after picking up a puncture during second practice. The result of the puncture left the Brit missing out on gathering valuable data. "It was not an easy session for me. The balance is still not perfect and we need to work hard tonight to try and improve that before final practice", he said. "The main issue of the day was the puncture I picked up half-way through FP2 because I missed out on my high-fuel run on […]

Di Resta hints at Force India stay

Paul di Resta has all but confirmed suggestions he will stay at Force India in 2013. Earlier, the Scot was linked with the McLaren and Ferrari vacancies for next year, but those top teams have now pushed ahead with alternative plans. Di Resta, 26, hinted to Britain's Sky Sports that his ambition to switch to a top team has fallen short for now. "You always want to be linked with these seats and thankfully I was," he said. "The best thing to hope for is […]

Alonso urges Ferrari improvements

Fernando Alonso claimed a podium in the Singapore Grand Prix but urged his Ferrari team to improve in the final six races of the season. Alonso's lead in the championship was trimmed to 29 points as Sebastian Vettel won in Singapore. "In the end it went well, but we definitely can’t go on like this. It can’t always be the case that my closest rival retires, as has happened in the last two races and we can’t think of carrying on to the end of the […]

Di Resta clear on Singapore aims

Paul di Resta has said that his Force India team must be targeting a good points haul from the Singapore Grand Prix. di Resta finished sixth under the lights in Singapore last season and claimed eighth place in the recent Italian Grand Prix. "I had a good race there last year and we’ve seen already that the car has been strong on street circuits this year. So I’m hoping that we will go well there, optimise the set-up and pick up some good points", he […]
