Red Bull encouraged by practice pace

Red Bull drivers Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo say they are encouraged by the pace displayed by the squad during the second practice session for the British Grand Prix. Kvyat was fifth quickest, 0.854s down on pace setter Nico Rosberg, while team-mate Daniel Ricciardo was close behind in sixth position. "The car felt comfortable today and we got through our programme," said Kvyat. "It’s looking good for us so far, but it’s only Friday so we have the weekend ahead and it is too early […]

Ricciardo expects Red Bull stay into 2016

Daniel Ricciardo says he expects to stay with Red Bull into 2016, though hasn't completely ruled out a switch to a rival squad. Ricciardo moved from Toro Rosso to Red Bull at the start of 2014 and took three victories as he finished in third position in the championship. Red Bull's struggles this season have restricted Ricciardo to a podium-less seventh in the standings ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix and the Australian says that while his future is likely to be with his […]

Kvyat: Damage 'massively compromised' race

Daniil Kvyat says his chances of collecting a good result at the Austrian Grand Prix were compromised when he collected damage on the first lap of the race. Kvyat clipped the back of Sergio Perez at the start and pitted for repairs, though the contact left the Russian with damage to the underside of the car. "It was a very tough race today," he said. "The front wing was damaged on the first lap and from then on my race was massively compromised. "The bodywork […]

Ricciardo pins early exit on brakes

Daniel Ricciardo says problems with his brakes prevented him from making it through to the top 10 shootout at the Austrian Grand Prix. Ricciardo ran into the gravel during Q2 on his way to the 14th fastest time and will now drop to 18th due to an engine penalty. As he cannot serve the full sanction, Ricciardo will be issued with a five second penalty in the race, which he will serve at his first pit stop. "We ran into some issues under braking in […]

Ricciardo targets 'fun' recovery after penalty

Daniel Ricciardo says he hopes to qualify in the top eight in order to limit the damage of his 10 place grid penalty for using a fifth engine at this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix. Ricciardo gets 10 place grid drop for Austria

Daniel Ricciardo faces a sizeable challenge even to score points at Red Bull's home event after being hit by a 10 place grid drop. Reliability problems at the start of the season left Ricciardo with a shortage of new parts from his respective allocation and he will use a fifth engine at the Red Bull Ring this weekend. Consequently, Ricciardo will start 10 places lower from wherever they qualify. Ricciardo will be joined towards the back of the grid by McLaren's Fernando Alonso - who […]

Ricciardo confused after slumping to worst result

Daniel Ricciardo admitted he was mystified by his lack of pace as he slumped to his worst race finish since he joined Red Bull at the start of 2014. Ricciardo started from ninth place but slipped back and crossed the line a lowly 13th, 12 months on from his maiden victory at the Canadian Grand Prix. "It’s been a strange weekend for me and I am a little confused about today’s race," he said. "I was lacking pace and we are not sure why. There […]

Ricciardo disappointed by Red Bull stagnation

Daniel Ricciardo says it is disappointing that Red Bull is not able to close the gap to the front pack after qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix. Ricciardo, who took his maiden Formula 1 win at the circuit 12 months ago, will line-up from ninth place on the grid, one position behind team-mate Daniil Kvyat. "The weekend so far has been tough, we have struggled for most of it," he said. "This is a power circuit and we are power limited. We have been trying […]

Ricciardo eager for return to Canada

Daniel Ricciardo says he is eager to return to the Canadian Grand Prix, the scene of his maiden Formula 1 triumph in 2014. Ricciardo took advantage of problems for Mercedes in last year's race to take the lead with a few laps remaining, before cruising to the chequered flag and collecting the first win of his career. Ricciardo hailed the nature of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and joked that his maiden win elevated the status of the track in his mind. "Possibly winning has made […]

Team-mate Daniel Ricciardo ensured both Red Bull drivers scored heavily as he collected fifth place. "I am happy with today’s race, it was my best finish in Formula One and it was a great result for the team to finish fourth and fifth," he said. […]
