Daniel Ricciardo says he hopes Red Bull will have the pace in Canada to apply the pressure on rivals Mercedes, as he chases his first win of the year. Feature: Dancing in the streets

The 2016 running of the Monaco Grand Prix was an event which two drivers deserved to win, though ultimately, the rational nature of sport meant only one could emerge victorious. This was a weekend in which both Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton were electric around the streets of the Monte Carlo and La Condamine districts of Monaco, as wet weather and strategic decisions played out in intriguing fashion. Hamilton had been supreme during Thursday morning’s opening practice session on a dirty circuit but come the […]

Ricciardo 'screwed' and 'hurt' by Monaco mistake

Daniel Ricciardo says he feels "screwed" by Red Bull as he missed out on victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, despite leading the early stages of the race. Ricciardo surged clear of the pack in wet conditions but ceded the lead when he pitted for Intermediate tyres as Lewis Hamilton stayed out on Full Wets. Ricciardo closed the deficit and Hamilton opted to make his sole stop for Ultra Soft tyres once the circuit dried. Ricciardo pitted one lap later but Red Bull did not […]

Ricciardo hopes to resist Mercedes fight back

Daniel Ricciardo says he doubts he can maintain his current supremacy over Mercedes across the remainder of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, but is hopeful of staying in front, after topping Thursday's second practice session. Ricciardo vaulted to the front of the pack with two rapid times, the second of which meant he ended the day 0.606s clear of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. Ricciardo, chasing his first victory since 2014 and first pole position in the sport, is wary of Mercedes making gains on Saturday but […]

Daniel Ricciardo emphasised Red Bull’s credentials at the Monaco Grand Prix as he stormed to the quickest time during Thursday’s second practice session. Ricciardo, running Renault's upgraded power unit, moved to the front of the field with a 1:15.015 on the Ultra Soft tyres before improving further with a time of 1:14.607. Ricciardo’s time proved to be 0.606s faster than Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who led the way during the morning session. Ricciardo, Magnussen to receive Renault gains

Daniel Ricciardo and Kevin Magnussen will receive Renault's upgraded power unit at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix. Ricciardo and Magnussen both trialled the power unit during last week's in-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and were encouraged by the progress made by Renault. Renault originally intended to bring the upgrade to Canada but that has now been brought forwards, with two power units available across the four Renault-powered cars in Monaco. Max Verstappen and Jolyon Palmer will have to wait until the Canadian Grand […]

Ricciardo: Barcelona defeat 'hard to take'

Daniel Ricciardo has admitted that his defeat at the Spanish Grand Prix is still "hard to take," though has drawn encouragement from Red Bull's performance. Ricciardo claimed the lead of the race following Mercedes' first lap collision, and went on to head the field throughout the first two stints. However, Ricciardo's three-stop strategy, and the timing of his tyre changes, ultimately left him battling Sebastian Vettel for third, with the Australian unable to pass his former team-mate before a puncture ended his hopes. "I think […]

Ricciardo rues 'bad luck' after missing podium

Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo was left to rue his misfortune after he missed out on the podium positions at the Spanish Grand Prix. Ricciardo controlled proceedings during the first two stints at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg collided at Turn 4. Ricciardo used a three-stop strategy but was overhauled by two-stopping Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen, while Ferrari used the undercut to move Sebastian Vettel ahead of the Australian. Ricciardo tried to pass Vettel for third but […]
