McLaren 'respects' Red Bull's refusal to release Prodromou

McLaren on Tuesday said it understands Red Bull's reluctance to release aerodynamics chief Peter Prodromou from his contract. McLaren has already signed Prodromou, who works closely with Adrian Newey, but it is believed he remains under contract to Red Bull for at least one more year. "I can't see any incentive for Red Bull to release him early," McLaren managing director Jonathan Neale told reporters during the Vodafone teleconference. "We'd be happy if he was starting first thing tomorrow morning, but we do fully respect […]

Nico Hulkenberg, the new key to unlocking the remainder of the 2014 'silly season', has not signed a deal yet. That was the claim on Tuesday of his manager Werner Heinz, amid reports German Hulkenberg has now committed to a team for next season. Lotus boss Eric Boullier on Monday was quoted as saying 26-year-old Hulkenberg was the team's "choice" 2014 pick, but he has also been linked to Force India, McLaren, or even staying at Sauber. "I think Hulkenberg is still a little undecided, […]

Bottas: Maldonado's move unfair

Valtteri Bottas says that Williams team-mate Pastor Maldonado drove unfairly during the closing moments of the Japanese Grand Prix. Maldonado dived down the inside of Bottas into the Casio triangle on the final lap, forcing Bottas to run wide and concede the position. Maldonado came across the line in 16th place, ahead of Bottas. "There was no space on the track. It was not fair," Bottas told BBC Sport. "If I hadn't gone straight on we'd have crashed. Racing shouldn't be like that." Maldonado disagreed with […]

Maldonado confident of future with Williams

Pastor Maldonado says that he is likely to remain with Williams in 2014, despite a difficult season with the team. Maldonado joined Williams in 2011 and scored just a single point in his debut season, but took Williams's first victory since 2004 at the Spanish Grand Prix last season. This year, Maldonado's 10th place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix remains Williams's only point of the season. "For sure it was a hard beginning of the season and it was quite a hard time for […]

The promoter of the Korean Grand Prix says that he would consider holding the race at night as he bids to strike a better deal with Bernie Ecclestone. Nico Hulkenberg is in the running not only at Lotus for 2014, but also McLaren. That is the claim of the German magazine Sport Bild, who said even a return to Force India for the German has not been ruled out. Hulkenberg, 26, admitted in Singapore last weekend that moving from Force India to Sauber last winter might have been a mistake. "Well, regret is a big word," he told the British broadcaster Sky, "but if you move teams you want to progress, you want […]

Lotus team owner Gerard Lopez has slammed Kimi Raikkonen, after the Finn revealed he is only leaving for Ferrari in 2014 because he has not been paid. Raikkonen had shocked reporters with his brutal honesty about his unpaid salary on Thursday, but Lopez told the German newspaper Welt that is not the full story. "He will get his money, as in previous years and as agreed, at the end of the season," Lopez said. "I am very confused about the timing and content of these […]
