James Calado says that his first run in a Formula 1 car during a Grand Prix weekend was 'amazing'. "Yeah we will see," he said when asked by F1Zone whether he will stay with the team in 2014. Raikkonen hoping for victory fight in Italy

Kimi Raikkonen says he is hopeful that Lotus can compete for the win at next weekend's Italian Grand Prix. Raikkonen has never won at Monza, while a Renault powered car has won at the circuit just once since 1996. Nonetheless the Finn is optimistic that he can get among the front runners. "Monza always gives a great challenge," said Raikkonen. "It’s so different compared with the more modern circuits as the layout means the car needs to be set up differently. To go fast at […]

Raikkonen reckons Lotus competitive in dry conditions

Kimi Raikkonen says he is confident that Lotus can fight at the front - if rain stays away from the Belgian Grand Prix. Raikkonen qualified in eighth place at Spa as wet weather hit the circuit. "When it was dry in the second qualifying session we were fastest, so if it’s dry tomorrow we should be okay for the race; even though we will not start from a great position," he said. "The last qualifying session was wet and our car does not give its […]

Toro Rosso duo frustrated by wrong calls

Toro Rosso duo Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo were left frustrated after failing to make it through to Q2 in Belgium. A drying circuit caught out both drivers, meaning that Vergne will start from eighteenth and Ricciardo nineteenth. "What happened today is easy to explain, it was just a team mistake," said Vergne. "These things shouldn’t happen, but everyone gets it wrong now and again. It is very frustrating, as the car has been good enough this weekend to qualify really well in either the […]

Force India no longer developing 2013 car

Force India chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer says his team is no longer developing the VJM06, ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix. Force India is currently in fifth place in the championship but Szafnauer admits that the team does not have the resources to run parallel programmes effectively. "Because we’re such a small team we have stopped developing this year’s car and we’re working on next year’s car" he told F1Zone.net in Belgium. "We can’t do this parallel development, we just don’t have the […]

Alonso: I’d give myself a 10, motivation 10, determination 10

Fernando Alonso has dismissed rumours suggesting he will leave Ferrari and insists he is highly motivated ahead of the second half of 2013. Alonso is currently 39 points behind championship leader Sebastian Vettel. "After many years in Formula 1 I have never had a great Sunday here [at Spa] and I would like to finally get a good result," he said. "I think our expectations can be good ones as this circuit requires different levels of aero downforce and a very specific set-up and our […]

Alonso hoping for change of luck in Belgium

Fernando Alonso says he is hoping to make up for years of misfortune in Belgium by achieving a strong result this weekend. Alonso has never won the Belgian Grand Prix and has retired from the race on five of his nine attempts. One of those occasions was last year, when Alonso was the victim of an accident at the start, triggered by Romain Grosjean. "I did well in 2005 when I came second and also back in Formula 3000," Alonso said. "So far, I’ve never […]

Marussia team principal John Booth says his squad remains focused on retaining 10th place in the Constructors' Championship for the rest of the season. Marussia is currently ahead of Caterham in the fight for 10th place, courtesy of Jules Bianchi's 13th place in Malaysia. "We head into the second part of the season still holding 10th place in the Constructors’ Championship and we are keenly focused on what we need to do at every turn to ensure we maintain that position," said Booth. "The challenge […]
