Substitute Heidfeld tops Jerez Day 3

Nick Heidfeld set the perfect impression to Renault as he topped the timesheets on the third day of testing in Jerez. The German, 33, set his best time on the first lap of an eight lap stint, indicating that the lap was not a low fuel glory run. It is expected that Renault will field reserve driver Bruno Senna tomorrow, although Heidfeld is expected to be named as Kubica's replacement regardless of how the Brazilian performs.

Renault announce Senna as reserve driver

Bruno Senna - who started 18 races in 2010 for HRT - has been announced as Lotus Renault GP's reserve driver for the 2011 season. Romain Grosjean and Fairuz Fauzy are also reserve drivers for the team but if anything were to happen with Kubica or Petrov, Senna would be the driver promoted to a race seat.
