Marciello cops blame for testing accident

Raffaele Marciello accepted responsibility for a testing accident which compromised Sauber's programme at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Wednesday. Marciello, who had tested for Ferrari on the previous day, lost control of the Sauber C34 at Turn 3 early in the day and skated into the gravel, before making light contact with the barriers. "I lost the car and crashed," he admitted. "Luckily it was not big, just the front wing. We were doing some constant speed tests so the tyre temperatures were going down […]

Red Bull/Toro Rosso 'very similar' - Gasly

Red Bull junior Pierre Gasly explained that there is little difference between the Red Bull RB11 and Toro Rosso STR10 after the French driver tested both cars at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Gasly sampled the Toro Rosso on Tuesday - his first experience in a Formula 1 car - before moving to the senior squad for Wednesday's running, during which he posted to third best time. "To be honest, the difference is really small," he said when asked to compare the two Renault-powered outfits. "In […]

Palmer quickest as Barcelona test ends

Lotus driver Jolyon Palmer posted a late lap on the Super Soft tyres to set the quickest time on the final day of in-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Mercedes youngster Pascal Wehrlein had sat atop the times for much of the day's running but Palmer's lap of 1:26.080 demoted him to second. Red Bull youngster Pierre Gasly tested for the senior squad, having driven the Toro Rosso on Tuesday, and set the third best time, despite stopping at the pit exit during the […]

No Red Bull miracles - Kvyat

Daniil Kvyat says that Red Bull cannot expect miracles as it bids to recover from a sub-par start to the 2015 campaign. Red Bull has amassed only 30 points so far in 2015 - with Kvyat racking up just five of them - and sits a distant fourth in the Constructors' championship. A planned major upgrade at the Spanish Grand Prix did not deliver the step forwards that the team had hoped for, with Kvyat warning that no-one should expect miracles. "It is hard, I […]

Grosjean sure of points opportunity

Romain Grosjean says he feels Lotus can challenge for points during the Spanish Grand Prix after narrowly missing out on a berth in the top 10 shootout. Lotus had struggled during the final practice session on Saturday morning but both Grosjean and team-mate Pastor Maldonado made it through to Q2, where they set the 11th and 12th fastest times respectively. "We can be happy with where we are following qualifying," said Grosjean. "After this morning we didn’t think that we’d make it into Q2 but […]
