Relentless Alonso still fighting

Fernando Alonso has said he will go to sleep with the glass 'half full' after fighting his way up to second place in Abu Dhabi. Alonso started from sixth place but was only 0.8s shy of winner Kimi Raikkonen after fifty-five scintillating laps. "I’m happy with the way this weekend turned out. It’s true that with Sebastian last, there was an opportunity to reduce the gap more significantly but it’s equally true that our performance and our grid position could have seen us lose points […]

Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna may have finished in the points for Williams but the Venezuelan driver lamented a KERS failure. Maldonado believes he could have finished on the podium had he not suffered a failure. "We missed the opportunity to finish on the podium today after we lost the use of KERS following the first safety car period.  For sure there was more in the car", he said. "The pace was good and at the beginning I was closing the gap to Kimi but […]

Sebastian Vettel came close a year ago, succumbing to Jenson Button's challenge only on the very last lap. "I led every lap until part of the last one," the reigning world champion ruefully recalled. Team boss Christian Horner told […]
