Abu Dhabi wants F1 winter testing

Abu Dhabi has now officially thrown its name into the hat as a potential pre-season testing venue for next season. We reported last month that venues in Bahrain and Qatar have applied to host F1 next winter, as teams look to the Middle East for better testing weather than wet and cold Spain. "There is an interest to do pre-season testing outside of Europe which would be of interest to us," Richard Cregan, boss of the Abu Dhabi venue at Yas Marina, is quoted by […]

Piquet Jr wins first Nascar race

Former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr has broken through to win his first race in the world of Nascar. The now 26-year-old Brazilian switched to the American realm's secondary Truck and Nationwide classes after leaving formula one in the wake of the 'crashgate' scandal. The news, reported by the American news agency AP, came as the F1 chief executive's original Wednesday deadline came and went. "We are still trying to make it (the race) happen," the 81-year-old is quoted as saying. "They need to get some money and a pen ... as soon as possible." The new deadline is next Wednesday's meeting of the World Motor Sport Council. "If it […]

Concerns still linger over first Indian GP

A month before the inaugural race date, uncertainty still persists about the readiness of India's new Buddh circuit. The FIA's World Motor Sport Council said in Singapore that the organisers and Bernie Ecclestone are giving "positive" briefings about the Delhi venue. "We're very happy, they're doing a good job," the F1 chief executive told the AP news agency on Saturday. But some recent photos in the media told a different story, even though Team Lotus reserve driver Karun Chandhok is the most recent visitor to […]
