Thursday at Silverstone

Sunny skies and warm conditions greeted the paddock on Thursday afternoon, but most of the talk was about the much anticipated rain due to fall on Friday. Silverstone is set to impliment an emergency parking system should Friday turn into a washout. A few of the drivers were quizzed about the inclement weather conditions, although Kimi Raikkonen looked at the sky, noted the sun, shrugged and simply said ‘if it’s wet it’s wet’. Jenson Button was asked about his woeful Silverstone record, and hoped that […]

Sutil resurfaces as Massa axe rumours louden

Rumours that Felipe Massa is now on his last legs at Ferrari are beginning to gain in volume. Team boss Stefano Domenicali fueled the speculation on Sunday by insisting Ferrari expects the struggling Brazilian to "fight back starting in Monaco". "We absolutely need his points to also fight for the constructors' title," said the Italian. Before Domenicali's words, whispers were already doing the rounds that Adrian Sutil could be set to play a role, should Ferrari bite the bullet and dump Massa. The former Force […]

Di Resta and Alguersuari hint F1 careers set to continue

Two Formula One drivers on Tuesday hinted strongly that, despite not yet having official confirmation, they are staying on the grid in 2012. Ecclestone: split with father 'a disaster' for Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton's decision to dump his father and sign up with a celebrity management company was "a disaster". That is the view of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, speaking after arguably the worst season in the 2008 world champion's entire motor racing career. He said the 26-year-old Briton's "personal problems" in 2011 - including his split with girlfriend Nicole - were exacerbated by the absence of his former manager and father. Anthony Hamilton, in charge of his son's career until early 2010, now manages the […]

Hamilton on right track with girlfriend split

Lewis Hamilton's split with pop star girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger will make him a better man and driver. That is the claim of the 2008 world champion's father, following the news that Pussycat Dolls singer Scherzinger and Hamilton, 26, have parted after a four-year relationship. The split would explain Hamilton's foul mood in Korea just over a week ago, towards the end of arguably the Briton's worst ever season in his professional career. But Anthony Hamilton, despite no longer managing his son's career, indicated the McLaren […]

Paul di Resta's manager expects the Force India rookie to become more articulate as his formula one career progresses. Hamilton's father plays down management criticism

Anthony Hamilton has tempered his recent criticism of his son's management team. After Lewis Hamilton returned to the headlines for the wrong reasons after Singapore, his former manager and father said F1 drivers need a proper "driver-manager" rather than "people from a company". It was a jibe directed at Hamilton's entertainment agent Simon Fuller, whose XIX company also handles the careers of Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham, and singer and actor Jennifer Lopez. Anthony Hamilton has now justified his criticism by admitting he […]

Ferrari's Massa sarcastically suggested 26-year-old Hamilton should call upon his father for help, while Anthony Hamilton blamed a failure of support by his son's new management led by entertainment agent Simon Fuller. Hamilton Snr points finger at son's management

Anthony Hamilton has criticised his son's management team as the 2008 world champion returned to the headlines for the wrong reasons. McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton clashed twice with his 2008 title nemesis Felipe Massa in Singapore, and afterwards almost came to blows with the diminutive Brazilian. "We're all pretty hot here," said his boss Martin Whitmarsh smiled and shrugged. "Felipe grabbed Lewis slightly aggressively but I think Lewis acted with restraint and walked away from any potential confrontation." Briton Hamilton, 26, was heard to shout […]
