Sauber reserve driver Sergey Sirotkin will continue to race in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series this year.

Sirotkin, 18, finished in ninth place in his rookie campaign in the category last season when he raced for the ISR team.

Sirotkin will switch to championship frontrunners Fortec Motorsports in 2014, alongside his duties with Sauber.

The Russian is still being prepared for future a race drive in Formula 1 by Sauber.

"It was a difficult December, with many important decisions for my career," said Sirotkin.

"Now that the full programme has been finalised, I am finally free to dedicate all my energies to the coming season. Let me say thanks to Fortec for the great opportunity they offered me. During the test run together in Spain, I had an immediate great feeling with all the people there."

Sauber will field Esteban Gutierrez alongside former Force India racer Adrian Sutil in Formula 1 this year.

Should Sirotkin prove successful in this season's FR3.5 championship, he'll be in a strong position to make the step up; reigning FR3.5 champion Kevin Magnussen will race for McLaren in 2014.
