Charles Pic has conceded that his Formula 1 future remains unclear, ahead of the final race of 2013 in Brazil this weekend.

Pic joined Caterham for 2013 as part of a 'multi-year deal' but the Frenchman has yet to be confirmed for next season by the team.

It is understood that Pic is in competition with team-mate Giedo van der Garde and Lotus substitute and Caterham reserve driver Heikki Kovalainen for the two vacant seats.

"For next year, I think the logical thing for me would be to stay at Caterham but it’s not sure," he said.

"I think there are still many seats available for next year so nothing is sure for the moment so we will see."

Pic says that his current position is nothing new, when asked whether his Formula 1 journey could be drawing to a close.

"Yeah but you say that every year, no? So, at the end, I don’t think it’s changing a lot."

"We try to be focused on the races we are on, so it’s Brazil this weekend and give our best this weekend, try to get good results for the team and then we will see what happens for next year."
