Fernando Alonso says McLaren is "much more optimistic" than it was last month as it prepares for a sequence of races which he believes should suit the outfit's package.
Alonso ended a nine-month barren spell when he collected sixth place at the Russian Grand Prix and is optimistic that the MP4-31 can show strongly across the next few events.
"I think the car is improving and we are getting more and more competitive in the races," he said ahead of his gome event this weekend.
"I think the next Grand Prix will be a good one for us, here in Barcelona, Monaco, Canada should be better than China and Russia in terms of layout.
"So we have some high hopes for us at the moment to keep this momentum and growing together into competitive positions.
"We have some updates in terms of aerodynamics and we’ll see how those can go, but we are much more optimistic than one month ago."
