Weren't there talks last year about changing the layout of this circuit? I hope they do in the upcoming seasons.

Yeah they spoke about it then decided not to after China and Turkey 2011 had lots of overtaking because of the tyres!

I'd love to see them build a tunnel and make it figure of 8. Backwards down the start line, join the track at Turn 9, do that section, then at Turn 20 the track could dip on the exit and from there go backwards on the long straight. This:

Imagine the current Turn 20 having a wall on the outside as it dips down, under the other track and then rises onto the long straight...

That would be awesome Phil, but very unlikely. I would be happy if they would just make a more flowing track from turn 11 to 19 and a better entry to the long straight. Something like the second to last corner in Malaysia.

Good idea with the 8. The pit exit would be less dangerous as well. I added bigger run-off areas

Most places you'd think 'that'd be difficult' but there's so much money sloshing about they could do anything. Makes it all the more annoying they've come up with a dud. It's like they build the fancy hotel and everything first then remembered they had to put a circuit in and did it as an afterthought.

That kind of reverses the final sector. But it makes for a better race circuit.

'McLaren believes that different track characteristics could be enough to wipe out Red Bull's advantage at the front of the field, as it targets ending its rival's dominant streak.'

That's all very well and good, but 2 or the last 3 races are at tracks where Red Bull have been pretty dominant since 2009...

Qualifying is still key in 2012, which is why Red Bull baffled me with their early season tactic of tyre saving - they did it in Spain and Monaco. Why?? It just did not make sense.

I thought Vettel tried a run in Monaco but made a mistake so aborted it? Webber qualified on the front row and you don't give up a front row start at Monaco.
