Virgin news: In Istanbul the car will sport a higher nose, new diffuser, Red Bull style exhaust system, modified rear suspension and new wings. If the numbers are true, the car should be 2 seconds faster. "We will need those", warns Glock. If we stand still, HRT will overtake us soon."

I'm quoting German media with that.

It's a bit sad when you need such a massive upgrade just in order not to be dead last.

I thought the nose structure was homologated at the start of the season as part of the crash test and couldn't be changed.

Virgin are in a real mess though. They're a team who prides themselves on operating on a low budget, but the fact is that there is this public duel between Fernandes and Branson. Fernandes seems to have done everything right and Lotus are almost into Q2 on merit and fighting with the lower end of the midfield. Virgin has a car that looks woeful and a rookie driver who came with cash. Liuzzi will outqualify d'Ambrosio pretty soon unless Virgin gets a move on. Branson isn't going to pour £40m/year or whatever their budget is for much longer if they're running at the back. Same with Marussia.

And I haven't heard of Branson being the hostess of AirAsia yet. Have you? He isn't the man of his word :<>:

We'll have to wait and see if the Virgin upgrade delivers them decent results (i.e. near Team Lotus). If it doesn't, then they'll have to improve significantly by next year or I feel that Branson may decide to stop sponsoring the team.

And on a related note, HRT and (to a lesser extent) Virgin are proving that running a Formula 1 team on what seems to be the budget of an old-age pensioner simply doesn't work, and merely turns the team into a laughing stock.
