slow corners before long straight, just typical of tilke
Re: Indian Grand Prix (Scheduled for 2011)
Apparently it is expected to have the second fastest average speed of any circuit on the calendar behind Monza.

Yes! I was thinking of Kyalami when I first saw the schematic for this new track. If this Indian circuit is in the style of some of the older circuits such as Kyalami, we might actually get some decent racing...Cromoseta wrote:kyalami wtf?

I can't see that. It doesn't look fast enoughshailf1 wrote:Apparently it is expected to have the second fastest average speed of any circuit on the calendar behind Monza.

Re: Indian Grand Prix (Scheduled for 2011)
I have to say that this looks like the most promising layout of recent years (Better than Valencia and Korea) and opens up a huge market in India, especially with Force India being an F1 team. However, I am concerned that they just copied Kyalami
But I really hope we're not heading into a mindset of 'A new race a season'. Because the world has enough good tracks at the moment.
Bernie wants new circuits in the USA and Russia. Not necessarily bad territory but the USA has enough good circuits (Watkins Glen, Road America) so why build a new one? F1 fans are becoming irritated by circuits where there are no fans whilst good tracks are going in favour of new surroundings. Bahrain hasn't worked. China hasn't worked, but Bernie can't accept this and keeps the races. Turkey 2009 was just embarrasing for the sport that less people turned up than turn up for a game in the fourth tier of English football.
The only problem with the USA is that F1 has tried again and again and again and it has not worked, so why will it work this time? Especially with the failure of USF1. Most of America are obsessed with NASCAR and for pure speed IndyCars are faster and provide the sort of action that keeps Americans entertained (crash, yellow, slipstream, crash, yellow etc). Why do you think that sports such as Basketball are more popular in the US than football? It's because there are more points and more 'goals' scored to keep fans entertained.
F1 is a largely European sport (not purely, but largely) and the majority of the people who work in F1, work in Europe or are from Europe. Even Force India are based in the UK. I'm not saying that F1 should remain in Europe and not venture out but having treaded the boards in Asia for 5-10 years now, its clear that the majority of Asian fans are in Japan where there is already a large manufacturer base and people are interested in cars. Pretty soon it's gonna spiral out of control and I hope it stops because useless tracks such as Valencia have replaced A1 Ring and others. Spa is in financial problems as are the German tracks. Bernie wants night races for 'European viewers' but hardcore fans will watch whatever the time and soon, the novelty of night races is going to wear off. In addition to this, viewing figures from the BBC say that 4.58m people in the UK watched the opening race of the season in Bahrain. I guarantee that a lot fewer people watched in Oz because the first race was so dull. Having the first race in a boring place may well have cost the sport some fans who gave the first race a go but won't watch again. If it was in Melbourne (like 75% of fans think it should be) then people would have found the race interesting and probably switched on again. [/rant]

correction here: In the US, Football is called Soccer, and there is American Football which is actually more popular than basketball. You should see the people coming in droves to see even inter-university matches. (All this just for everyone's info

Re: Indian Grand Prix (Scheduled for 2011)
From Zack's pic, the track looks faster, and many of the corners seem to be faster than they look.

Re: Indian Grand Prix (Scheduled for 2011)
Having just seen the plans for the track, I am disappointed. Its a copy of Kyalami where there wasn't much overtaking, and there's only one overtaking place (turn 1 is too fast). Tilke, come on dude!!! Show some imagination or copy a decent track.

lets give it a chance, its not only the layout that affects over takings.swca92 wrote:Having just seen the plans for the track, I am disappointed. Re: Indian Grand Prix (Scheduled for 2011)
Bumping quite an old thread!
But there is a decent track model on rfactor:
Istanbul turn 1,2 but mirrored!
The second sector looks decent.

Re: Indian Grand Prix (Scheduled for 2011)
Sector 2 looks too fiddly and without anything decent, hope I'm wrong.
The run between 2 & 3 is longer than the video suggests
